WOT fear
Ink... I own an SV650s. I also own a Z1000 and compared to my Z1000 the SV650 feels anemic @ WOT.
I've ridden with a bunch of guys on here with liter bikes... ??? is one of them, and his ZX10 made my Z1000 (which makes around 130hp & 70ftlb torque) look anemic as I watched him chase after 2 Turbo Busas...
Personally, If I were you I would have kept the SV650 longer, maybe till you got used to its acceleration. Its all about timing and reflezes and yours sound like they need a bit of experience.
I won't go any further as to how capable the SV is since you sold it... but I will say any of todays 600's will exceed the acceleration of the SV ten fold. They can be just as dangerous as a liter bike in the wrong hands.
Ride with your head & not your wrist... don't ever think you can over compensate for your lack of skill with a faster bike, cause quite frankly the bikes don't do shit on their own... it's the riders who make them quick.

Not to mention Brandons fiasco of wrecking his bike via wheelie the first week he got it (he had the road rash to prove it). I'm sure the next time he grabbed some throttle there was a little bit of fear/hesitation. As with most things the more you experience the same thing the less and less scary it is. I think that fear can keep you out of trouble in some situations, it's probably better than the opposite (ie people riding with reckless abandon and no fear). The big question is are you conscious enough with yourself and your abilities that you can keep from using that extra bit of throttle. That you know your personally not prepared for the events that might take place by that action. If the question to that answer is an honest yes, than it really shouldn't matter what bike your on.

It's really a matter of preference. 600 is cheaper, lighter, more agile, and usually faster through tight twisties (unless you're related to maladin). 1000 feels like it has double the low-end torque, is much more powerful, and is more fun to ride in my opinion.

I like how if I say something that you don't agree with you have some dumbass bullshit to say about what's happened to me in the past. Yeah, i've wrecked my bike (a few times.. some my fault, some not), i can admit i've made bad decisions on my bike at times. no i didnt really respect the power when i first got it. was i scared of wot? no. My experiences have made me a better/smarter rider. Bringing up what's happened to me in the past didn't prove a goddamn thing about what's being said here. I really think you just do it to try to make me seem like some jackass, and I dont really appreciate that. I still stand by being scared to WOT a 600cc bike is pretty fucking lame. Lastly, dont act interested in how im doing when hanging out and chatting it up with folks because I know you dont really give a shit. So dont waste your time trying to seem like a decent human being. thanks.
So to recap, you were an idiot when you first got your bike and abused the power before you knew how to handle it. You wrecked it (several times) and hurt yourself, and by the grace of god and the grace of god alone you weren't a "Rider Down - RIP" thread....but being scared to go WOT on a bike when you first get it and respecting that power until you learn to handle it, thus not crashing it and making yourself look like an ass, makes you a pansy, huh?
Wow....Really...wow.
