There are valid points to be made for the legal liability you take on if and when you brandish your gun in public, but you are WELL protected by the law as long as you obey the law.

On Jan 6th 2007 Channon Christian (21) and her boyfriend Christopher Newsom (23) went on a date. First to a restaurant and then headed to a friends house to watch a movie. They never made it. Carjacked, kidnapped, and taken to a house where a total of 5 attackers waited. Christopher was tortured, raped, mutulated, and burned in front of his girlfriend. Channon was raped in every possible way, tortured, murdered, dismembered and burned.

It happens. I am sure he was just as strong and tough as you are. I gaurantee they never thought it would happen to them, but it did. How naive to truly believe that bad things only happen in bad neighborhoods, or that you will never need more protection than your fists. I hope that I don't ever have to use my pistol, but if someone comes on my car at a stoplight, breaks my window, gets inside and threatens my life...I will shoot.

I don't walk around in fear, or worrying "what if". If I thought I needed a gun on a daily basis to protect my life from criminals...I might as well walk around in a giant pillow as well....in case I get hit by a car. Better odds of that happening than being confronted at gun point. While I'm at it, I won't leave my house again without a gas mask...just in case I run into some nasty toxic air pollution, or maybe even a terrorist bio attack. Who knows...it's such an evil world out there.

You're right, the worlds a different place nowadays...not like the wild west in the 1800's where everyone carried a gun. No one died then.

You have every right to not protect yourself... Hell, I believe you should be able to not wear a seat belt, not wear a helmet, walk through the worst neighbor-hood in town with a flashing sign that says "Mug me, I don't believe in guns" at 2:00am. Fine by me. Just don't try to take away my right to protect myself and loved ones and we will get along just fine.

Seriously though... You really don't see the value in mitigating the risks you face on a day to day basis? I agree, I am not going to stop driving because I might die in a car accident, but that doesn't mean I am not going to wear a seat-belt, buy a car with a high crash rating, etc. Hopefully you will never need your air-bag, but I bet you will be glad as hell that it is there if you ever do need it. Same with with CWP, most people will never need it, but it only takes one time that you do to make all the difference in the world.

Whoever said I don't protect myself? I just don't need to carry a gun around with me everyday to feel safe or protect myself. It's called using your head. It's amazing what simply avoiding a situation can do. Am I going to be 100% safe? Ofcourse not. But carrying a gun with me ensures nothing either.

Hell, I've even had a gun pulled on me before...I still don't see the need to carry. If I pulled out a weapon of my own at that point, I can only imagine how the situation would have escalated.

^ Pulling a gun when drawn down upon is commonly referred to as 'suicide'.

With that said, I'll be carrying as soon as I get saddlebags to carry in. As for when I have a CWP...ehh, I dunno if I want to have a metal object strapped to me if I ever take a fall off the bike, so I might just keep it in the saddlebags.

And to the comments of "I can't believe you people carry guns! When have you ever needed them?" the answer is almost never. But if you ever do need it and don't have it...well...good luck depending on the cops to keep you safe. Personally I've only ever had to draw once in my lifetime and I likely will never have to draw or fire at a person again. That one time was enough to convince me that a gun is a good thing to have handy, though.
