Hey, whatever floats your boat. Hope you never actually use that gun...because I can guarantee you'll be opening up a whole new can of worms the second you pull that thing out.

I think I would rather open a can of worms then lie silent in the ground. This isn't some rugged world where someone comes and verbally abuses you in an effort to steal things from you (i.e. cars, bikes, money, etc.)...this is a mean world, that is all there is too it. The chances of getting killed by a criminal attempting to commit a crime is far greater now then it has ever been. I am more then willing to open that can of worms while attempting to remain alive.

There are many laws that protect a victim who shoots and/or kills someone else, assuming that person was commiting a crime that endangered the life of the victim, or even someone else for that matter. All of these conditions are taught in the CWP class and are strictly adhered to by nearly all carriers.

Part of the problem is that you never hear good media about CWPs and the encounters of law abiding permit carriers with criminals. If you were to cruise some of the concealed weapons forums you would see that there are a number of incidents on a fairly frequent basis where "good" has been done by some who is "packing." Thank you liberal media.

Thats just my 2 cents.

Chris

I am absolutely dumbfounded that so many of you don't see the need to protect yourself. Sure I understand that the chances that you will be carjacked, kidnapped, robbed, mugged, or worse are slim to none.....but it CAN and DOES happen every day. There are valid points to be made for the legal liability you take on if and when you brandish your gun in public, but you are WELL protected by the law as long as you obey the law.

On Jan 6th 2007 Channon Christian (21) and her boyfriend Christopher Newsom (23) went on a date. First to a restaurant and then headed to a friends house to watch a movie. They never made it. Carjacked, kidnapped, and taken to a house where a total of 5 attackers waited. Christopher was tortured, raped, mutulated, and burned in front of his girlfriend. Channon was raped in every possible way, tortured, murdered, dismembered and burned.

It happens. I am sure he was just as strong and tough as you are. I gaurantee they never thought it would happen to them, but it did. How naive to truly believe that bad things only happen in bad neighborhoods, or that you will never need more protection than your fists. I hope that I don't ever have to use my pistol, but if someone comes on my car at a stoplight, breaks my window, gets inside and threatens my life...I will shoot.

Out here we live in a society where at no moments notice your life changes when you are approached by 6 20 yr old kids there to rob you of your shit and kick you fucking ass. Granted ive never been in the situations ive described nor do i want to be, but, you never know..........

BTW, Since Ive gotten my CWP i have been yanked about four times. Every time i tell the officer i am carrying. EVERY SINGLE TIME i have gotten off with a verbal warning. And for your information, there are more laws now protecting your rights of self defense, you should do a little reading

And yes, i think you can go ahead and take the class, if i recall there were 20 yr olds there
how long does the class last for? im not 21 for like another 11 months but could i take the class now and get er don or is it like a thing you need to renew like every year or something?

and +1 about the V tech shit. ONE 21 Y/O WITH A CWP could have stopped the whole mess by popping the shooter . and i doubt any victim or police officer would try to get whoever would have done it locked up. hell they would prolly get a hero award or something.

All i know is with a CWP instead of running and hopping you dont get hit when you hear gun fire, you can find cover and possibly end the threat

i dont mean everyone with a cwp should try to play cowboy and run twards the messes that are out there, im just saying you could possibly save alot of people given the right situation.

You can take the class if you are under 21, you just can't apply for a permit until you are of age. The class I took was only 4 hours long.

I took the class at the range off Fowler right next to I75 & the fleamarket. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. Believe the cost was $75 which covered the class, range time, targets, etc. If you know your firearm inside and out, know the laws pretty well and have common sence I'd recommend them, its a 1 on 1 class and the length of the class will be determined by your knoweldge of what I just mentioned. After the class, you load, fire and unload a single round infront of the instructor. after that you can stay and use the range for as long as you like or pick-up your certificate and leave. if you would like more info on the laws and suck, packing.org is a great source.
