Don't most responsible parents have freaking health insurance for their children? It really doesn't take much to get $100,000+ bill at the hospital. I'd suggest that in this case we might need a law that requires white thrash parents to carry health insurance if they have dumb ass teenagers living in their home?

bottom line is the wreck was the fault of the owner of the bike, NOT the girl that was riding pillion. therefore he's legally liable for her injuries.
This mentality is exactly why I avoid passengers in my car as much as possible, let alone on back of a bike. The girl is responsible! I'd be really hard pressed to come up with an activity more risky than riding bitch on the back of bike driven by a freaking teenager (edit: with no gear, and no personal health insurance).

I will agree to disagree with you, Moldy. If I get on a bike, and we get in an accident, I fully expect to pay for my own medical expenses (unless of course the accident wasn't our fault). It was my choice to get on the back of the bike, therefore I feel that it's my responsibility to make sure I am protected. If the owner of the bike does not have ins. for him/herself, thats their problem, but thankfully I'm not stupid enough to get on anyone's bike without insurance to protect myself as well. Maybe I'm dumb or weird, but I call it looking out for myself, because if I don't, no one else will.

I have insurance so i dont really have an opinion, but to me with the head injuries she sustained,it seems like she wasnt even wearing a helmet to begin with,I hope the gave her a ticket for that.
No insurance + No Helment = Ticket

I think Monk3y siad it best, this is just another case of some moron not able to take responcebility for there mistake.

What a dumb bitch. Just because the irresponsible rider didn't have insurance, she wants to change the laws to affect all of us? Plus, even if he had liability, which is only what the state requires for cars, she'd *STILL* be paying those medical bills. How about she acts like a responsible parent and gets medical insurance for her child?

Actually, I thought passengers could be covered under liability coverage.

I thought you needed bodily injury for that, but you might be right. BI isn't required by FL law. I got sued for $10,000 for hitting somebody without BI insurance
