That's an understatement. John's internet persona is a hyperized exaggeration of John the guy, but one thing I can promise you is that he is the real deal and a hell of a guy to truly know. I could tell you stuff, but lets just say I understand and appreciate him the same way I understand and appreciate true artists, philosophers, and scientists... and I don't mean wannabe pseudo artists that like the artist lifestyle, pseudo intellectual "deep thinkers", or engineers that fancy themselves as "scientists"... more like Picasso, Delueze & Guattari, or Planck.

BTW, seems to be of interest on the floridagerman.com forum for the event. I'm trying to convince 'em to do it, even if in a rental.

So which one of you guys told my buddy that his rail buggy wouldn't be fast at all compared to the cars at this event?

A friend of mine in Orlando heard about this event, called one of the organizers, explained he wanted to bring his rail buggy, and someone told him it's not very fast compared to the cars out there.

It's a shame he's going to an off-road race on the 7th, otherwise he was planning to come out to this event. The buggy he was going to bring is a two seat race chassis with a 2400 CC VW motor. He's taken it to the Orlando track, lowered the coilovers, put slicks on it, and was like 3 seconds off of one of the instructors over there in a vette. I think he would've put on a great show! I'll try to get him to come out to one of your future events.

I'm sure it would've school'd a fair number of us... okay, me for sure, but I'm sure there'd be others too.

I Did, Historically the Buggys Just can't put the power down like the Awd cars can. That's what I said.. of course if he is too afraid of getting beat on by some street cars, he should stay home.

HAHA all in good fun. This is a car designed specifically to race at very high speeds in soft dirt and mud. I think it would be kinda boring for him, but I'd love for him to come out and put on a show. This is his slow car too BTW. His "play" buggy is a big 4 seater with a Honda V6. 300hp in a 1900 lb car with very short gearing. It's quite fun.

I think that my rail thingy wouldn't fair too well right now. It's just a bare frame. Just wait til I install the jet engine and lazer beams.

I was thinking a fwd Subaru setup placed midship. I was also planning on a double wishbone front suspension oriented towards road handling instead of maximum off road travel. I have two projects started right now and a car and boat for sale. I'm not even going to think about starting my buggy until all that is off my plate.
