I went to my first event in Brooksville on September 28th, and of course it was awesome. The only thing that was dissapointing was the turnout. I knew about SCCA from the Carolina's and looked it up here to find out about it

I'm sure that you have, but I'll ask anyway ... has there been any talk about better advertising? I never heard anyone here talking about Solo II since I moved here. As I have mentioned it to other people and showed off some pics, there are several friends that want to show up next time I go. "Word Of Mouth" is great, but an add in the paper ... TV commercial (although expensive), could do wonders ...

My 2 cents ....

That's the schedule. It's a sticky at the top of the forum and it's always updated thanks to OversteerS2K.

I have gone to events for many different regions and clubs, I have never seen anyone advertise to the general community.

Mainly because it changes the scope of your event if you advertise. Some insurers (SCCA's insurance, for instance) actually require you to specify if you're having a "spectator event" and charge you significantly more money.

But, even without that, if you advertise you're going to get a crowd of not just entrants, but spectators. Not something you want at a "regular" autocross, but it can work if you plan for it. It does take a lot of planning to do it right. As an annual sort of thing, it CAN be useful to draw new people to your events.

The oil that I drained from said Miata last night disagrees with you. Unfortunately, the little bit of driving that I did do over the past two weeks may have taken its toll on my bearings.

Sorry I missed the event, I really did want to go.

Got the engine apart yesterday and found scored crank journals. I'd hoped to just put new bearings and oil pump in it and have it back together today... now I have to find a machine shop to work the crank.

I hate working on engines.
