You guys are a JL dealer now? If so JL is really packing them close in here in Pinellas!

I can't disagree that I personally think some of their stuff is slightly overpriced. Not a lot, but equal equipment can be had for less money in my opinion. At the same time, a W7 was never designed as a pure SPL sub so it's quite likely 2 subs at half the price will meter way better or make more bass. But a w7 does have great SQ and stays linear all the way through the power range. Not many subs get as loud as a W7 while doing it as clean. Comparing it to a Crossfire sub is apples and oranges. In fact it's father apart than that, it's comparing apples to cucumbers.

By the way, the Crossfire XS 12 is rated at 2K RMS, not 4K. :: SPECIFICATIONS ::

I understand wat you saying. I am not sayin that you are wrong or anything.

But pretend you buy the crossfire. You going to have to buy a 2k amp to power it efficiently, you might have to get a high output alternator sooner than with the JL. I dont know too much about Crossfire but I am guessing it is a SPL type. For SQ with a decent amount a bass, i dont think it is expensive.

You sell JL? What shop do you manage?

Pricing is a matter of opinion. JL sells itself due to years of quality product and innovation. Their customer service is second to none and if you call, and American answers the phone who speaks English (and you NEVER get a recording during business hours. That cost's money. R&D costs money. Innovations such as flat line subwoofers (13TW5) that put out crazy numbers in .825 cubes of airspace, HD amps that can fit in door panels but put out a true 1200 watts on 4 guage wiring without even getting hot, and the like-all produced in the USA.

I am not going to get into arguments about what a 12 inch sub with 4000 true watts going into it will actually sound like (which amp do you guys put on that one anyway with a true 4000 watts RMS?) compared to a 13W7 with 1000 watts RMS going to it.

I do know this, when we compare a 12W7 or 13W7 side by side on our display board with most any other subwoofer that a customer has brought in over the years, we have yet to have one knock as loud. This includes a demonstration a while back with a 15" Memphis MoJo that later went into a build we did here. Tons of just TR members here have come by and heard this sub and compared it to theirs-ultimately selling out for the JL stuff.

I agree with luke81 that (like every other brand out there) not all of their stuff is worth every retail penny that it goes for. But the tried in true amps and subs are still some of the number one selling electronics in their categories by volume. That is not by sheer accident. There are allot of pros and cons about allot of companies, but JL is by far the very best experience we have ever had with a manu all around...

JL makes a quality product, and designs it from the ground up. That is what makes their products so expensive. Even dealer cost isnt cheap on JL stuff.

Although they make quality products, it is overpriced for the performance. You can get a product that will perform just as well for much cheaper, and Im not talking about stupid flea market ratings either.

Thats all I was saying. And everyone got their panties all waded up. Sheesh guys lay off the caffene.

The truth of the matter is , JL is for sipping tea in your Bmer. Just kidding, calm down. Its nice stuff just really expensive. But if you want to pay for it go ahead.

And the idea of a 1000 RMS SQ sub makes me giggle.
