What speakers should I go for?
Alright I'm going to be getting an explorer this week and wanted to see what people thought of my possible setup. I am going to use a 4 channel amp for my highs/mids and a 2 channel amp to push a single dual voice coil sub. Probably a 1000 watt 2 channel amp and maybe like an 800 watt 4 channel. Right now I'm thinking of looking to get 2 pairs of MB Quartz 5.25" components and am now looking for a sub that doesn't take a huge box, preferably a 12, and doesn't cost $500. Whats a good sub for the price? Anything else that compares to MB Quartz's components for less money? How is Infinity? Let me know. Thanks.
I also was looking at Infinity subs. Like the Kappa Perfect 12.

For your sub amp, go with a mono class D amp...not 2 channel. As for subs, the choices are endless. I don't think that Infinity will handle 1000w RMS though. What's your price range for the sub?

I used a kappa perfect 12, I thought it was a great sub for the price. I think you can get them on ebay for ~100-150.
As far as components my suggestion would be to go and listen to as many as you can. If you like the way that quarts sound you might want to look for something with a metal tweeter.

I'm really only looking to push 500rms to the sub.
Now as far as mono, what about pushing a dual voice coil sub? Can I run the positive to one of the positives of one voice coil, the negative to the other voice coil's negative, and then a wire from the other 2 not being used? Or something like that?
Not really going for competition, just want quite a bit of bass for the size(single 12 in a sealed box, or possibly ported-no huge bandpass though). And also want highs and mids to be clear and loud. Thanks for the help.
For wireing options go to:

Shows you how to wire stuff until you memorize it.

Also maybe look into resonant engineering @ www.respl.com
or elemental designs www.edesignaudio.com
Both make really good woofers for the money compaired to mainstream companys like rockford and kicker.
Best thing you can do is do your homework before you drop 800 dollars on a system. The Caraudio.com forums is a good place to learn about products.
