I think when a car is slow at a track, it probably doesn't magically gain horsepower on the street. Agreed?

Actualy it means quite a lot. C5 Corvettes stock right from the dealer will run 170 mph in the top end. From a standing start they usualy run 13.00 to 13.2 at about 107 mph in the quarter mile stock. If this guy was only going 120 he was just messing with you. Sorry to bust your bubble kid but the numbers don't lie.

No flames intended, just stating some facts based on my personal experiences. My car ran, bone stock, 13.01 @ 109 mph.

Judging from what was said, the C5 (if 6spd) at 120 mph, would be right around or a little over the limiter in 3rd. He still has all of 4th & 5th, which are good pull gears, even in a stock C5, and should top out around 172 mph. Just to give you an idea, my car, on motor alone, dynos 180 rwhp IN 6th GEAR! I personally don't like high speed races, unless I'm on a wide open hwy, then it's fair game. So my best guess is that the guy was just messing with you bro.

Anyway, it's all good when you have fun, but keep it safe!

and shit if no one believes it, get a c5 vette and go race my old car.

I will guarentee from a 1st,2nd gear roll your vette will be toast, assuming its stock or mostly stock.
