Thats because you have these little penis dick cylinders that have virtually no displacement. Thus your pistons/rods are extremely tiny and have very little mass. Unlike you my engine has displacement (2.8x total volume) and thus requires heavier internals. Frankly I produce a shitload more power than you. So just sit your stupid little ass in your aluminum foil powered beater and STFU. And BTW... I get 17mpg when Im romping the shit out of the loud pedal how many mpg do you get up there in 8700 rpm land????

By the way...I am not talking trash about your Cobra. I have quite a liking to Mustangs and have one sitting idle in a garage waiting for a tranny rebuild and a new top (thanks to some fucking thieves). The speed is great but overall I feel the Focus is a much more fun car to drive even with a fraction of the power that the Mustang has...but Im working on that soon.

Could you ever beat me in an autoX? no. Will you ever even SHOW UP up at one? probably not. If I wrecked into a ditch I guarantee Id walk away... probably not in a CRX.
I KNOW the new Civics have 5 star rating all around so MAYBE you should start comparing the cost to make a NEW Civic fast to that of a NEW Mustang... NEW CARS COST MORE thats the reason I called you a tool.
Stupid people like you try to compare things that are completely different and then justify it how? I bet your $2700 car is older than 1992 or was it so fucked up when you got it that you had to almost rebuilt it completely! I got my car in immaculate condition... when I drop it off at Sears for an alignment I get told its the cleanest best kept car they work on (and this is in Gainesville where everybodys daddy buys them expensive cars)
I fucked up your parade when I posted all of those expamples of cars autoxing against one another huh? heavy cars with big engines can turn just as well as light cars with little engines.
And FYI I run (hang out and bullshit with/race/etc) with a bunch of import cars every Thrusday night and often on other nights as well. Ranging from a variety of makes and models from Supras to DSMs to hondas to Nissans to a Protege even. I am the only domestic in this group. I have no bias against imports. I never said my car was that great either.
Goddamn what do people have to do to TEACH you stupid fuckers how to use LOGIC and REASON? Compare the WHOLE car. Not just the speed and price. If it is NEWER it has nicer things in it and will wear out later then an older one will (ie: the new car may still have life in 2010 the old car likely wont). The OLDER car has cheaper more available parts aftermarket has had more time to MAKE upgrades and their prices should have dropped (this is an advantage for you you have my agreement on this point). Newer cars look better because their paint is inherently newer an older car can be repainted but this starts negating the COST argument. I could go on and on.
So what happens when Ford meets Honda? they race. And someone leaves smiling. Theres no telling what will happen when Ford meets Honda really it depends on WHICH ford or honda and WHO is driving.
Let this post die please.

do the math.
in a daily driver crvtec full interior ac etc:
2200/300whp= 7.33:1
to have the same power to weight ratio a mustang would need 485whp. 485whp! n/a i dont know of many mustang cobras putting out half that much power to the wheels.
more reasonable numbers...for 6000 a civic hatchback can easily have 200whp.
2200/200whp= 11:1
3560/300whp= 11.86:1
my point the numbers do not lie. so anyone who can prove otherwise show me some numbers and show me some 1/4 mile times in daily driven mustangs on daily driven tires.
*3560lbs is the weight of a 2001 ford mustang cobra.
*2200lbs is the weight of a 5th generation hatchback.(full interior ac no power locks no power windows etc.)

Actually...that weight saving is lost if the transfer isnt there. Acceleration in a vehicle transfers weight to the rear...front drive car loses traction. Rear car increases traction ...this is important to realize whether you drag race or autocross.
Also..if V8s are sooooo old school why are there no AA fueler rail drag cars with 4 bangers??? Hmmmmm. Why???? Ill tell you...because 8 cylinder engine is equivalent to TWO 4 cyliner engines (sort-a) Two is better than one. And saying V8s are old school is stupid. There are plenty of technological V8 engines out there. Its not like Honda holds the secret reciepe for performance or something. Geez.
Oh....and Id rather be seen cruising around in a new V8 Mustang than a comparibly priced Honda any day.

lostandconfused: First of all if you want anyone to take your argument seriously I suggest that you immediately enroll in a remedial English course. You really need to learn to appropriately use commas and periods capitalize proper pronouns and to spell. I geuss (Sic.) you drive that old shitbox because your poor communication skills do not empower you to obtain a job that pays well enough for you to afford a new car. Now down to your arguments....
1. I assume that by a life you mean that you attend high school during the day and deliver pizzas at night so you do not have sufficient free time to reply.
2. I highly doubt that you have run against very many mustangs with 275+ hp. The fact is that the majority of mustangs on the street have 240 hp or less. Being a V8 head you should realize this.
3. What is intelligent about front wheel drive in regards to transferring power to the ground? You argue that if I had intelligence I would transfer my engine to a lighter chassis for better performance. Your own argument suggests that you are less intelligent than I because you have a front wheel drive vehicle.
4. 17mpg... It is actually quite acceptable for 320hp/317 lb.-ft. I can afford the gas.
5. overgrown hunk of metal engine... That is a unique description of a hand-assembled engine with a block made in Carmagnola Italy by Teksid (Ferrari Formula One).
6. 138mustangGT does know his place. I challenge you to show up at any autocross event.
7. Its IMMATURE!!!!!! (Please refer to point 1.)

phatstang1: Were cool. Good job on the times! I didnt realize you were running that quick. I was having major traction issues due to shitty tires. Of course that led to lots of fun.... You remember the sideways finish right??? See you at the next event.
