Sounds like a low tens car, but who make dohc heads for a ltx?
Also dont you think having a 78mm tb is choking it?

Since when did GM put out DUAL OVER HEAD CAM engines on their LT or LS series engines? Last time I checked, they are pushrod engines. Care to elaborate Roscoe? Seems to me like you just owned yourself.

That looks like a PUSHROD engine to me folks!

Maybe I'm wrong... I don't know. I mean, I did own an 01 Camaro SS at one point (LS1 PUSHROD!). I also owned a 99 Grand Am GT (3.4 PUSHROD!). So its not like I dont know my GM stuff here.

Ever heard of a ZR1 Corvette?
LT5 Maybe? No?
Didnt think so you are just talkin out your ass?
Yea i think so.
They have DOHC just like mine.
They were based on the LT4 head cfm flow and basic design but are DOHC
What do you think I got the heads off of?
DOHC heads dont make more HP as Pushrod 2 valves
But, they do make more usable torque throughout the power band especially around high rpms.
So anything else?

And yea the 78mm is a bit small but it was the biggest i could order based on the LT5's upper and lower intake beacause the intake ports on the head are unlike any other SBC.

I wasn't doubting ya. I have heard of 4 valve heads, but not heads that relocated the cam to ohc position. Ill come out to the track with ya, but I olny have a mid 12's car, and its a redneck mobile too.

:banjo playing: Why am I hearing banjos?

OK... you lost me again Roscoe... So now you have LT5 heads on an LT4 383 pushrod engine? Can you explain how you managed to retrofit DOHC LT5 heads to the 383 LT4? I must be going nuts here, but I cant seem to find anything on the internet that supports what you just said. Unless you want to recant your story and say that you have a ZR-1 LT5 swapped on your vette, that would be a bit more credible... Educate me/us please?

I just verified with an ASE Master Tech on the validity of your claim... I basically asked him if he could build me a 383 stroker LT4 with DOHC heads out of an LT5 and per the corvette manual and his expertise, its IMPOSSIBLE to perform. BTW, I cant seem to find anything on the net about a DOHC LT4 engine. Ball's on your court now bud... we are waiting.

Wow at this thread. I see the point, yes there are more than a handfull of 4 bangers on this board that will take that Vette down.... we know this

What you guys havent noticed is that with all the bashing done to this Vette guy, he has yet to come out of character keeping a cool head.

WarBoom might be a pretty cool guy and theres nothing wrong with a true rednecks.... plenty have helped me out....

And yea there is a LT4 with LT5 DOHC head
Mercury Marine made the original LT4 and 5 right?
Well in their marine series of engines they made a engine with the LT4 block and the LT5 heads and upper and lower intake.
They did it to save money and to gain reliabilty.
Its called a LT4 Retro Kit and you can order it through Mercury Marine order center.
It costs $2358.99 and if i can find the receipt ill post a pic of it too.
The kit includes a cam plug and cam bearing oil locators that reroute the oil around the now non existant single cam.
It also incldes the front cover that allows you to mount the puley system for the heads.
And if you were so perplexed you can measure the engine and it is a full 3.81 inches longer than a stock LT4

Life would have been a lot easier if you just say you have an LT5 engine... For that picture shows an LT5.

**edit**

I just got this excerpt from the net

"Oh yeah, the LT5 was a double overehead cam all aluminum 350 ci V-8 built by Mercury Marine for the Zr1 that sold from 1990 to 1995. It made 375hp early on and in 1994 I think they bumped it up to 405. It shared NOTHING in common with the LT1 or any of the other motors."

How the LT5 is Built

LT5 Technical Briefing
This was a great read... However, it mentioned nothing how the engine was conceived from the LT4's short block design.

So in short, you have an LT5 engine. I sure hope that you can outrun the 4 cyl. cars.

BTW, nice car... please don't crash it. And I learned something new about the LT5 engine today. Thanks!
