a4 2.8 idle issue

i just got a 2000 a4 2.8 quattro having idle problems when i start the car i have to be on the gas slightly or else the car will shut off some one said the idle controle valve but ive been trying to find out more info before i go trearin stuff apart anyone have a similiar issue
need all the help i can get whats up tr audi fam

vac leak, maf issue, tb issue,, mis fire... could be a few different things,,, scan the car .. where you located...
