Default idle issue

Hey its Michele, Cisco's wife I havent really been on here for a while but I am looking for some advise on what to check for my idle issue

ok quick run down of what I know

When I first crank my car in the morning or after it has had a chance to completely cool down my idle goes up and down between 1000 and 2000 rpms. it will do that until the temp needle just starts to move up and then it goes away. and does not do it again untill the car is allowed to sit and completely cool down. the car is running great it is just the idle issue. I am lost at what it could be

I have replaced the IAC Valve (it was thowing a code)
as far as the FIT Valve is concerned for some reason Cisco blocked it off (with a coke can) the problem had started right before he passed away so I assume he was trying to see if that was the problem. it made no diffrence.

can you all please help me out with this. It is annoying as hell and I really just need some ideas on what else to look at.
I have had people tell me it could be the TPS or Map Sensor. I have put it on my scanner and it is not throwing any codes right now. so I dont wanna replace untill I know for sure

and also another question, I swapped the car form Auto to Manual. when we did that I am almost positive we didnt swap ECU's is there anyway that can be the issue. form what I have read there is a diffrence but I am not sure

help a girl out please.....

thanks in advance

hmm interesting. I am pretty sure I still have the LS Manual ECU

now a question about that. my car is a 97 GS so it is OBD2. the car I used for the swap was a 94 LS so it is OBD1. I have swapped in the 94 LS engine and tranny into my car now. what would I need to do to swap out the ECU if I wanted to take that route? I am not sure if that would be my best bet or if I should just deal with it since it only does it on warm up.

suggestions??

your could be out of time(timing). but if your running a OBD2 motor with an obd 1 ecu that would be my best guess.

just to clear things up in case i confused anyone

my car (97GS) is Obd2 but we put the Tranny in from a 94LS which is obviously obd1. we have been having the problem ever since.

I just installed the 94 LS engine, but the problem existed before the engine was installed.

when I put it on the scanner it gives me only the Automatic transmission codes so I definitly have mt OBD2 Automatic ECU still in my car.

I have been having a timing issue with the car SINCE i installed the 94 LS engine in it. so could that be because I am still running with the OBD2 Auto ECU with the 94 LS engine

how easy will it be to install the OBD1 ECU in my car. I have a good deal of knowledge on working on my car just not the electrical/computer stuff

thanks for all the responses so far, you all dont know how much this is helping now that I am on my own with the car
I am good at working on her, just not the best a diagnosing...

the ecu is easy, its on the passenger side, right by the door, behind the carpet. there are four bolts holding it on and three plugs to unplug.

oh ok, I know where it is
I just didnt know if there was any diffrent wiring or plugs. so esentially its just plugs right up then, even if mine is OBD2 and the one I need is OBD1?

If thats the case I will have to go look through the millions of boxes I have and see if I can find it tonight

obd2 and obd1 ecu have diff plugs, like i said b4 you can use a 5spd obd2 ecu on a obd1 engine cuz they have the same base maps, as long the engine is non-vtec and the ecu also.

ok I was confused, sorry.
so the extra OBD1 5 speed that I have now I will just have to try to sell. and look for a OBD2 5 speed one. correct? that way it will plug up into my car since it is currently has my OBD2 but the Automatic one.

sorry I just wanna make sure I am completly clear on this. now are they exspensive and how hard are they to find

thanks for your help so far. I dont know much about the ECU stuff
