Default Going to be purchasing a MK4 Jetta or Golf TDI soon.. what should I look out for?

I am looking at a Golf TDI, but I can do a Jetta TDI as well. New to this scene, but what should I look out for? Most of the TDI's are over 100k miles which is fine for the engine, but how does the rest of the car fair? What should I be looking out for?

Thank you
Matt

You should be fine with a tdi.
Just look for rust or frame damage and other things like on any other car.
Most people that drive those cars drive like grandmas

I cant say much for the TDi since I had a 1.8T that was heavily modded for several years. I would make sure the normal things are there. maint. records and the like. that there is not any obvious issues mechanically.

The MkIV interiors normally need some loving after the 100k mark. Check to see the recall had been done on the sunroof drains. That there has not been any really bad leakage where the fabric and stuff is starting to come off.

window regulators, brake light switch, no funny sounds when the ac compressor clicks on, and make sure its a 5 speed.
never had a single porblem with the 1.9 tdi engine, they were solid! But some plastic shifter link broke on me and i lost 1st 2nd and reverse, it was an ez fix though.
