If you re-read, I was reffering to Tq. not Hp. There are cars on VW fixx with the stock K03's DYNOing at 290lb ft. I swear people underestimate VW's in general all the time, even VW owners.

MAX ft-lbs: 292.7

Engine size:

WOW this post will take a while cuz i see tons of comments that arent true

so lets begin

a normal k03 will not run 21psi ever cuz its not effective in this range

no you cant find a gti 1.8t for 9k unless it has been banged to hell and back they are just to popular right now

as stated by my amigo 1.8t's dont have more potential cuz no one has one making over 500whp to date secondly

lastly my 97 2.0 8v is faster than you focus sorry but they arent fast and you know that but i dont think a chipped 1.8t will run down a 350z

now i think for the money you are wanting to spend you should find a used mk3 vr6 95-mid99 gti you can find them for around 6k chip/e/i/and cam will work wonders and you that will bring you around the 9k mark and you should then be running down 350's

Stock K03s can reach 21psi. Obviously it will not hold at that pressure for long and becomes a heat pump at that point. However, there are ways to compensate for this somewhat. Besides more PSI doesn't always mean more HP.

Your correct that 1.8t's do not have the potential of the VR6. But for all intensive purposes, unless your going all out on modding(basically track car) a 1.8t will suffice just fine. The 1.8T does offer more wallet friendly modding than the VR6 if your looking for a quick car that takes well to inexspensive mods. (I think more people are likely to reflash their ecu than tear their head apart and replace cams)

Lastly, don't tell me you think a 2800lb. car with figures like 220-230hp & around 240-250lb ft. of tq. wont keep up with a 350z.

i've ridden in chipped 1.8ts with nice drivers and i know for a fact that it will get banged from a dead stop by a 350z now it might hang from a roll with one but a stop its gonna get banged

to make 300 hp on a 1.8t it takes a 3500 dollar upgrade kit, for 2500 you can having a turbo kit for VR6 that makes the same or more. Plus a VR will not blow the number 3 rod out off the block at that power level. With a GT28R kit you could probably pull an evo, but that is no cheap kit. Get an MK3 VR, if you haven't driven like an ass, and your record is clean, your insurance might be cheaper because the MK3 is a little less valuable than the newer car.

good read..

K03's cant handle much more than 1bar sustained. If you are running 21psi sustained on a k03 it will give. Just a matter of time.
