the slicks make you slower confuses me also, why do top fuel, funny cars, pro mods and etc, run them if it makes them slower why wouldnt they just run a big set of strrt hoosiers or something?

Slicks CAN lower your MPH compared to a DR. It depends on the set up and the amount of tire pressure.

I trapped 3 mph less on a set of 26x10x15 ET drag slicks then a set of 275/50/15 MT DRs on the same day.

BUT, some of that was due to tire pressure, the DR's were at around 16 psi, where the slicks were only at 9 (lower then I needed them to be).

And you are correct, the 11.8@126 is faster then 11.6@123 , just as 11.6@123 is quicker then 11.8@126

 

Hes saying slicks drop your MPH because they do. You run a better ET because of the 60 foots because thers less spin coming out of the hole. Thats all.
