IMHO she should not have been charged for resisting as much as the same obstruction charge as her father. Simple reason being that as the Deputy was interviewing her father she made him stop his investigation of him and deal with her therefore delaying the investigation even further.

Here is the Florida version:

843.02 Resisting officer without violence to his or her person.--Whoever shall resist, obstruct, or oppose any officer as defined in s. 943.10(1), (2), (3), (6), (7), (, or (9); member of the Parole Commission or any administrative aide or supervisor employed by the commission; county probation officer; parole and probation supervisor; personnel or representative of the Department of Law Enforcement; or other person legally authorized to execute process in the execution of legal process or in the lawful execution of any legal duty, without offering or doing violence to the person of the officer, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

Yeah first off I agree with racer495 this thread does not need to be locked.
Moving on, I know what training they recieve b/c my friends are HCSO officers and I always talk about the poor status of their department, both are looking into moving my way after I told them what they are missing out on. Their pay is horrable, once again first hand.

So why not show the officer the ID? He has nothing to hide right?

At the beginning of the video, didnt the cop say that he was investigating a fight? yes he should have said it after the man asked why he was being searched for his ID.

And as for the woman being thrown down... no fault there. What if she had ran up to the cop arresting the cowboy and taken his gun and shot the cop. You would be saying that she should have been taken down right when she started to run. That was for personal protection.

Yes, there are points on both sides, and if i was a judge i would dismiss the case ONLY if the cowboy was not involved in "the fight" or whatever.

And as much as it KILLS you guys, not all cops are bad. Dont forget who you go running to when your system gets jacked out of your car.

Hmmm...your friends seem to be in the majority. Sorry but there is SO much training available that you would be in classes all year if you tried to take them all. Remember that HCSO does not provide the initial training, it is from the State and you get your certification from the state. Then you get ADDITIONAL training from your agency. Sorry but HCSO is the 5th largest Sheriff's Office in the COUNTRY and one of the first to be nationally accredited.

As far as the pay, starting is around $38,000/yr and next year will be $41,000. Now this does NOT include the extra $160 a month that is paid for cafeteria benefit. Funny enough the starting pay is about the same as NYPD but the cost of living is WAY lower. See here:http://www.nypd2.org/html/recruit/salary.html, they make theirs a little higher by including "average" overtime.

I am curious as to what district your friends work in? Or are they detention deputies? They make less than a road deputy.

So what departments are you talking about "your" way that are so much better than the ones around here?

true but when the guy asked him what he was investigating then again would have been the correct time to say something. He did but all he could urge to say from that pea of a brain was "Im investigating and investigation"
that shit wouldn't fly for me... Arrest me at will, I will go peacefully

And by first hand you mean first hand knowledge right? Like your friends know what they are talking about? If they do, fine but your the one thinking if you willingly let an officer search your car even if they find crack, coke, marijuana, unregistered or unconcealed weapons without a permit that you will not be held liable and only because you let them search the car.....

So please get the facts straight before posting that crap

Im going to agree with Racer as well. First of all, HCSO... lol they are kind of a joke. TPD puts them to shame in arrests as well as being professional. Ive watched in car tapes from both agencies and HCSO acted like a bunch of power hungry red-necks. Not ALL of them are like that, just what i have seen.

I still maintain the fact that everything was done by the book and yes, the officer should have re-stated why he needed ID, but i think Racer is spot on when he describes how the cowboy is acting.

I say we do this to make it easier.

Whos side are you on? Law or Citizen?

I call law.

First of all I am talking about Montgomery County PD, their officers make over 50K the first year on the job. After 12 months a brand new take home car, no cars over 2 years old. Gun (up to 600 I believe), best vests on the markets and cloths (including leathers) are funished. I could care less if they are accredited or not they are a bunch of ass clowns. It is really hard for people who lived here for 10 or more years to see how much they are missing out with this police department. They are officers in the 5th dist. (I think that's what he said I'll ask him today), I know he covers the fletcher/bruce b downs etc area. Also, the police have a right to search you if they believe you have commited a crime, but only for their safety not for an investigation. All I'd do is keep my mouth shut and let my lawyer handle it. I have gotten out of so many deep holes with a good lawyer it isn't even funny.
