As I said, Here are the engine rebuild pictures. Alot of work was done at night so some of the pics look "interesting". We tore the engine down because of a fucking air cleaner... I bought a new air cleaner and it had a nut on the bottom shaft that I didnt see. Well from the vibration, the nut loosened itself and fell into the intake down in #6 cylinder. The piston was dimpled but no major damage was done and the beast lives.

This is an inline 6 engine so the hp numbers aren't much to look at but the TQ being the mexican engine is off the chart. Stock numbers are 165hp and 390ft/lb's. With the work thats done to it now its probably 165hp at the wheels and 400ft/lbs at the wheels. It will yank the gates off hell and beg for more.

Specs on the engine- 1971 Hipo Slant 6. Gasket matched head and intake. 340 race valves installed in the head during the rebuild. 1.7 Harland Sharp Roller shaft rockers. 340 PAC valve springs. All PermatorQ gaskets. Spider aluminum intake. 7780 One barrel carb. The original was the 500 2 barrel holley, but the 7780 flow just as much fuel and pushes just as much air as the 500. Its just one bigass jet. Lol!

Future (way down the road) plans are a LARGE rear mount turbo setup or a fully built crate 360 Mag, and pretty much to just have a really unique truck that you dont see everyday.

These ^ are from when we first tore the engine down to yank it.

These are the rebuild after the short block was back in the truck.

New Holley FP

Engine Continued.

This is the dimpled piston.

I honestly think your numbers are off. There is no way in hell that truck gets 27 mpg.

I reset the Odo.. everytime I fill up. Since it's been geared with the 3.70, the speedo gear was replaced and if the HCSO road speed rating machines are correct, thats what I get. I can go a full 7-9 days (thats driving 30 miles one way to work and every other place I need to go) on a completly full tank.

Aren't you running pretty small tires on that truck? That will make the odo think it's turning more miles than it is.

If a 30 year old truck could get 27mpg with an inline 6 and a single barrel carb (the most inefficient design for fuel dispertion) why in the hell do new trucks get 18 at best with all of the modern advances?

The truck has the same size tire's that came on it from the factory. Just different wheels.

Ill trade trucks with you for a full 7 days so you can stop calling me a liar... Matter of fact; I live with Joker Instituted (you replyed on his small block S10) and he can vouch for it.

No thanks on the trade. Tell you what, I'll just wait for other people to chime in and tell me I'm wrong.

^^^^i agree with you that seams like way to much for a old truck like that

i had a 4 banger ford ranger that got almost 20mpg and i thought that was alot of miles per gal.

and my dads 07 chevy only get 16-20mpg and its only got 38,000 on it
