Yes I'm a newbie when it comes to an import car. Ive owned nothing but mustangs..87-07..now i want to try to build a nice supra..so i will need , i will ask , and i will get as much info as possible to make this go as smoothly as possible...I like all cars..i was a newbie the first time i touched my first mustang. Now that i have an import i have to start learning about this car..That is why i joined this forum..for help and info....I guess i could of just got a car that was running great with some mods on it already...but what fun would that be...i would never know anything about it ....this way I'm taking a car from the ground up to restore it, once thats done i will mod it..and if i can do it without taking it to a shop for some expensive repairs...i think this will be the best way to learn about what i have and enjoy it more....

where are you located? ive got a box full of every sensor on the motor that i could troubleshoot with if necc and can do the necc things to get it running again. i know where all the grounds are and what should have power etc.. as i did the 7mgte swap on my mk2 back in 2001. ive got lots of experience with the 7mgte. some the easy way, some the hard way. lol.

well most likely it isnt either. ive never seen a bad ignitor. and all 3 coils going bad at once isnt likely either. chances are its just a bad ground. check the grounds that bolt underneath the intake manifold from the ecu. 2 diff clusters of them bolted to the same spot. always overlooked when replaceing the hg it seems. also should be a ground wire from the head to the body. thicker the better. 1 from the neg of the bat to the block, neg of the batt to the body. a small ground from the coil pack bracket to the head. make sure the cps is plugged in. that connecter even the tiniest bit loose causes issues. i would say strip the insulation off the cps wires on the engine harnes going across the head but with that few of miles they shouldnt be brittle and cracked idividually. ive had to fix that before also. like i said. i KNOW i can sort this out pretty quick in person. prolly in 5min. lol.

Saw the car today. The interior is in amazing condition, minus a few dash cracks. The seats and carpet look almost like new. If it were my car, I'd just keep it and restore it, screw the fox bodies, lol!

What do you think is the best way? Ive found some motors on ebay JDM motors 1,200 + shipping with under 50,000 miles..worth it? Where would i look for parts to rebuild it...... that's what parked it 9yrs ago..i wish they told me that..it would of saved alot of time trying to diagnose the problem..

well id go through 3d's machine on 7th ave. i had plenty of work done by them at their old shop. good work and good price. as for jdm motors. i dont beleive the mileage claims on them. you can roll the dice on one if you want but id rebuild it and know what you have when done. that rod needs reconditioned. crank turned. new bearings and seals. with the low mileage might only need honed but best to get it bored with matching pistons and go ahead with a hks 1.2mm mhg and arp head studs while your at it.
