Post 1j or 2j? Single or Twins? Shop or Garage? NEED HELP!!!

i am looking to swap my 89 cressida, but i have a couple questions i thought i'd post in here to get some responses and input on... first, 1jz or 2jz? i know the 2j has an extra .5 L of displacement but is it worth the extra money for the 2j? is there any added difficulty of a 2j over a 1j swap into an mx83? secondly, sinlge large turbo or upgraded twins? i've never had the option of twin turbo (coming from hondas) and wanted to know are there any pros and/or cons to each? lastly, xat racing quoted me $6500 for a 1j swap into my cressida... is it worth it? or should i just save the money buy the swap and do it in my garage? is it really difficult? any input/info will be appreciated and repped... thanks alot tr, and please leave my username out of this...

depends on how much your willing to spend and so on. the 2j even singled will be more in cost obviously, but its the same with both. you can get quite a bit of power into a cressida even from a 1jz even though cressidas are known for 2jz swapps.

this will be an on going project so, money will come, if not now in the future. but i am looking more or less for the pros and or cons to each. are the 2js problematic in any way? or the 1js? also would it be cheaper just to bore the 1j out to 3.0? repped both of you and keep the info coming...

There's the ever so popular (for some reason) 1.5J swap. It's a 2J block with 1J head. Drivability is just fine with a 1J. If you're going for all out power and parts on the shelf, go with the 2J

remember guys, this is a cressida so im sure it will be used for drifting. even with stock twins on a 1j or 2j, this thing is a light car, so stock 1j or 2j would be a good drift car. isthis going to be a straight line car or a drift only car? tell us what your wanting to do as toward your car so we better understand what your goals are.

i do not really have one intended use for the project... i might try my hand (or feet) at drifting, not really my thing though. i will always be a closet drag fan, lol. i'm really looking for around 500-600 hp (will go internal if need be). i plan on throwing some xat racing coilovers ("badger" i heard through a friend). for the turbo what would you guys suggest for my power goals? is there any pros or cons to each? what about the rear end? will it need to be changed? i've found a 2jz for sale w/ a 5 speed tranny and everything for $1700. lmk if that is something i should jump on? everyone was repped for their input and thanks everyone, keep it coming!

t-61 turbo is a well known turbo for 2jz but the handle tremendous power past the 700+hp range. if your wanting to drag this car, why is your choice a cressida?

sleeper appeal. also if i choose to drive it around town, to shows or something, i have a backseat for my son, and my wife won't bitch (or will have no basis for the argument) lol... and besides i heard the cressida was actually lighter then the supras, thats always better for drag.
