yes its definately lighter thats for sure. if you wanted it to be realiable and i good car to drive, why not just get the 7mgte? you can still have hella amounts of power at least easy 500hp depending on how your wanting to build it. trust me, 500 hp in a cressida is balls out easy low to mid 11s.

the 1j and 2j are gangster thats why, duh!!! no the real reason i'm going with either 1 or 2j is cause this is going to be an ongoing project between me, my son, and my father (yeah 3 generations!) to help us all get closer and bond. and my father choose the 1j or 2j since he wanted to buy an mk4 supra but for the price they are going for i said lets get a cressida and build the motor up. yeah we care more about the 1/4 times and dyno sheets rather then hoe appeal lol. oh yeah and i heard the headgasket always fuck up on 7ms... anyone have a writeup on a 1 or 2j into an mx83 supra??? i've been looking online and can't find much of anything on cressidas. also i am willing to spend more money on the 6 speed supra tranny, are ther any advantages to this tranny that make it worth the money? also any extra work involved with dropping this into a cressida? and lastly, CAN I DO THIS SWAP IN MY GARAGE???? i wanna know so i don't pay 6,500 for a 1j swap at a shop, when i can buy a 5speed 2j swap for 1700 + shipping...lmk asap i wanna get the ball rolling pretty soon.

1.5jz is better cuz the 1j head has better flow. that's it. with the 1j i suggest going with a programmable ecu. i've had nothing but problems with the stock ecu. when it runs... it runs great... when the ecu decides to fuck up it sucks. i enjoy my 1j great engine, runs smooth even with solid mounts it's really just up to what you want to do with the car and how much bang for your buck. 1j parts are really expensive but it's a unique engine in my opinion and a lot less mainstream. and i say do the swap yourself - with some help from friends and people on here you can get it done for a lot cheaper.

if you are gonna do it yourself then buy a front clip to pick off of. 1j parts are not as plentiful and you will drive yourself nuts looking for the odds and ends. so to answer your question about being able to do it in a garage.. yes... as long as you have room for the clip and the cressida.

the 6 spd tranny is known for being able to hold TONS more power than the punny little 5spd. i say, buy the ij, and make it a 1.5 and just rebuild it. if money isnt an issue, than just take your time. read up on cressida forums, or even on supra forums for 1jz and 2jz buildups and so on.

not off hand know. im sure youll need the basic skills. wiring knowledge, and fabricating knowledge including welding skills. youll most definately need new motor mounts im sure but i dont know much about the cressidas. if you have time, send S13.01 a pm becuass e he has a cressida and knows more than me. also, research the cressida forums for swap info as well.

p.s. you never did rep me lol

^^ agreed. i'm sure that there's plenty of instructions online to show you what you need. plus aaron over at driftmotion is very helpful especially if you buy his parts.
