think i saw that once.

you need the all essential basics that you would need for swapping any engine into a chassis that it was never intended to be in.

the 85 was 22re depending on the model, its more than likely carbed. if thats the case your in for one big headache.

i would say that you could fit the 1J's tranny in there without bashing are really cutting into anything (maybe the shifter well, the 1J tranny might be longer) you would probably need a custom driveshaft.

the mounts would probably have to be fabbed also. i doubt they have the mounting setup as the 1J.

There's been quite a few to do it. There's a guy named Matt that works at Toyota with a 7M in his truck. Another guy that worked with him named Ryan had a 7M, then 1J in his.

i feel that it would probably be the same swap if not easier then the mk2 or any other non ordinary swap, if im correct the engine bay is a little bit bigger than the mk2 which should fit the 1jz in quite nice, just like any other swap, your going to have to redo all your wiring to support the 1jz and make custom mounts. after everything is mounted your going to want to put a 1piece or 2 driveshaft in , and swap rear ends, depending on how much power your wanting to put into this truck. hope this helps and good luck.
