Default MR2 T (Running Lean)

As some of you may already know. My MR2 is running lean. My EGT gauge is hooked up directly on the exhaust manifold (Off of Piston 3). It will read 12,000 degrees running around 3,000 RPMS. Anything higher and it will pass 14,000 degrees very quickly. Therefore, when I drive it... I go around 40 - 50 mph.

For at TEMP Solution, what would happen if I simply UNPLUG the O2 Sensor?

Ya dig?

Seriously.. Stop playing around with this. Take it to XAT. Drop it off with a request to fix it...

Wait one week...

Pick up running vehicle that is ok and your AC works.

This is obviously a serious issue, you should NOT be driivng the car at all, it WILL suffer an engine failure SOON. This is not a leaky radiator, it is not a tire with a hole, it is not a dripping gasket. THIS IS ONCOMING ENGINE FAILURE due to supporting parts like the o2 sensor, fuel inejctors, ecu, possibly the timing. Could be anything, stop playing around.

Think about it this way. If you were running a 110 degree fever for a WEEK, you would GO TO A DOCTOR.

Default Ok ok

I plan on taking it to a shop next week. Really I am. The problem is that driving from Lakeland to Tampa going 45mph sucks, not to mention Risky!

I went ahead and UNPLUGED my O2 Sensor. The check engine light is now on. I drove it around looking at my EGT gauge. My gauge is now reading 10,000 degrees instead of +12,000. I drove it up to 75mph and it ran around 11,000 degrees. Much better I, wouldnt you say?

For some reason I was expecting that UNPLUGING the O2 sensor would make me run super rich and therefore I should have black smoke coming out of my exhaust.

No smoke whatsoever.... go figure. I will make an appointment with the shop, but at least now... I feel better driving it on I-4 now.

Lightbulb Appointment Scheduled at XAT

You can stop holding your breathe now!

I scheduled an appointment with Ryan at XAT for next Thursday the 21st. I also took the day off, so I can hang out with my car while they troubleshoot it and tune it.

If everything goes great, I'll have them install my Greddy Profec II & the FCD (still in a box)

Feel free to stop by to show me your MR2

PEACE-
