I can see what you mean by that, but I dont think small cars get ruined by having kickass engines instead of specific company restricted ones.

 

take for instance my corolla. its an 86 gt-s with the stock blue hat 4age that is came with. it has sat un driven and unstarted for almost 3 years. i just got it running oday and it started right up on old ass gas and i didn't here a single knock!! all i'm saying is that why deal with inferior products when you can have the best!! no other car company can touch Toyota's build quality PERIOD!!! nissan and honda are a tie for second. mitsubishi/ mazda for 3rd. if you don't under stand where i'm coming from then you have never taken apart an engine to see how it was desighned and what kind of materials were used. toyota is the best. its not only my opinion but its fact too.

to get a blue top hachi up to 360 whp will take about $12000-$15000 with everything bought installed tuned turboed whatever

a 350 zz4 is 360 whp stock
cost $3300
350 turbo tranny
cost $1400
fabrication and accessories
cost $2000

total $6700

$6700 = 360whp of chevy v8

$6200 (xat quote)= 230whp of sr20 power

$10000+ = 350+ whp on stock 4ag

now $6700=360whp of v8 power
$10000=500-550+ supercharged whp of v8 power

A 12A rotary is an extremely reliable engine. A mild port and some good carbs and it will rev to 10-11k RPM's without breaking a sweat.....lets see a 22re engine do that .

 

i think your estimates are so high because your having someone else do all the work. plus after you installed that great heavy ass motor the cars is gonna handle just like an american car. and everyone knows thats alot of fun. (understeer/spin) i kow for a fact that if we both had a budget of under 10 grand or whatever that i could build a 4cyl corolla that would be as good and better in alot of ways than your v8. even in the 1/4 mile. i could get 360hp out of a 4agte for under 6 grand.

plus i was raised with rocker arms and carbs so i will always love big displacement

and the estimates were of shop after shop estimates

and also if the 4ag was a 4agte then even i could get it up to 360 for cheap
the difference is that the bigger the dispacement the bigger the potential

 

true, but i like the technology to make power in my cars, not displacment. although driving a 240sx around for over 2 years has tought me to like TQ. 24L ka24de makes alot more tq than a 1.6L 4ag. my favorite motor would have to be the 7mgte. thats enough displacment for me. nothing sounds sweater than a 7m with a 3 inch open down pipe!! sex to the ears!!
