Cheap Shop for Spring Installation
Lol, I love these. Buddy cheap price=cheap workmanship. You get what u pay for. My shop can do it for 300. And it will be done right. The spring compressor is 1200, air compressor is 2500, I have 30000 in tools and am ase master certified, which wasn't free. Shop rent and my lifts were 4k ea. So that's why we charge. U can find cheap stuff out there and its just that cheap. People that have knowledge and equiptment have to pay for it. Guess u should have bought a kia, I think they charge 65$ an hr.
My post was actually a joke. I agree you get what you pay for with a reputable shop and some projects are best done there. On the other hand everyone has to balance their checkbook and a lot of people take pride in doing their own work.
Good luck with your springs!

I take pride in doing my own work, and you can do this in a driveway/parking lot as long as you have time (better part of a day, especially if you don't have air tools). Look up a diy on it, buy/rent yourself some of the tools you need and get at it. The experience and wrenching on your own vehicle (at least to me) is priceless. I'm always wary if someone else does my work.
$300 isn't too bad, kinda sucks that the labor is nearly as much as the springs...

Doing the springs on a Subaru is pretty easy, really don't need spring compressors (atleast I didn't for Blue Prodrives). Now my Acura is a different story. I rented spring compressors from Discount Auto and tried to fit Tien H Techs on my Acura's struts and it was a nightmare. I plan on having a professional shop with air tools do the job.

I understand that knowledge and equipment require money but I feel that if you charge $400 for a spring installation which is more than what I payed for the springs and spacers themselves, then no one will come to your shop for that service unless you have deep pockets. I'm almost 95% sure people will agree. So anyway you look at it your shop is losing money. Btw the coupon hunting went well. Installed the springs at a local shop for half the price S&R charged and they did it in less than 2 hours. So the whole 4 hour thing at $100 dollars an hour is sad to hear from shops that I'm supposed to trust to have my best interest in mind. Customer comes first.

Why do you say your glad when you know your not. Your sarcasm is is staggering and not appreciated. No one is trash talking local shops. I am simply promoting better business. Cheaper does not always equate to worse service as you are saying as the people that maintenance my car did an excellent job and were very friendly and allowed me to watch the process. The $400 S&R was charging didn't include an alignment anyways lol so that irrelevant. Probably would have ben $500 then. With the money I saved I can now get a $200 state of the art alignment if I wanted to so im fine there. As it seems you are coming from a shop yourself your opinion is obviously biased to make yourself money for yourself and the shop and thats ok. 5% buddy? You think 5% of people now a days want cheaper prices on services. You are jaded and I'm not going to hide my opinion in a sarcastic ridden message to you. I'll be real and tell you it straight. And customer service is going out of your way to make the customer feel comfortable and satisfied before, during, and after a purchase. If you knew that you would be explaining the process of where customers money is going and leave it that. Not bashing potential customers opinions. Many stores were doing just fine until Walmart showed up. Think about it.

So walmart put ur springs in? U should have asked for an alignment too...lol And if you read your first post about how the first two reputable shops you called were trying to take advantage of you, thats trash talking. Subaru charges 600 with the alignment btw but im sure you think we r all out to get u. I know that when i go to publix for food i expect to pay more than walmart for certain things, but the quality of product and service will be better. Oh and all the shops u have mentioned r doing just fine with our crazy prices.
