new to the suby
ha youre tranny wont make it close to 350 unless you dyno it at 350 then never go past 3k rpms after that.... people break those trannies on stock power theyre not made for launching hardshifting or any harsh abuse
Better clutch equals more grab equals more strain on gears....

yeah, if you want to go fast, 90% of the wrx owners on here will tell you to start with an STi.
I think Frank is telling you he thinks you should get an Sti....
To the OP: Hahaha sorry to laugh but you wouldnt believe how often somebody comes by here or the national forum with the exact line of: "I know nothing about subarus but I want 400hp" And since nobody has said it yet, 250-300awhp and 300wtq (at 3.5k rpms) is freaking nasty, coupled with the handling you get from awd is just insane. So dont really worry about being a dyno queen quite yet. Based on what I've seen price wise 8k seems good.
More on numbers (avgs from what I've seen) Please note 02-05 WRX's had 2.0L engines where as 06+ WRX's and 04+ Sti's have 2.5L:
stock 2.0L: 185 whp 200 wtq
stg1 (no mods, ecu reflash) 2.0L: 200 whp 220 wtq
stock 2.5 WRX: 205 whp 250 wtq
stg1 (no mods, ecu reflash) 2.5L: 215 whp 275 wtq
stg2 (turboback exhaust, ecu reflash) 2.0L: 225 whp 240 wtq
stg2 (turboback exhaust, ecu reflash) 2.5L WRX: 245 whp 300 wtq
STi's:
stock: 220 whp
stg 1: 250 whp
stg 2: 290 whp
Hope this helps....
