I got the factory service manual thanks to eartears

Well thanks everybody for the help
No worries man, it's actually quite easy. Just make sure that if you choose to take it to a mechanic, you choose one that knows what they're doing.

if your comparing a subaru to any inline 4 cylinder, yes it is very difficult to do a compression test. remove the intake, remove the battery, squeez your hands down there in a tiny ass spot. the 07's really suck. the emissions pump is right in the way on the back right cylinder. it took me and a friend like 30 min. to get that one, trying to line it up with the plug. keep in mind it was an aftermarket coilpack, so it wasnt made out of rubber for flexablenesssssssss.

I'm comparing the compression test to any mechanical procedure... it's really not that big of a deal. Battery out = 12 seconds, intake off = 32 seconds, and so long as you don't have the hands of Sergei Rachmaninoff, you'll be able to get it

* I definitely agree that other cars are easier, though.

Subaru's are generally a pain in the ass to work on,some stuff is easier than other cars though, alternator replacement for example.

I didn't break her before. She just needed a little engine makeover. It was hard having 215,000 miles and still running as well as she was . Not to mention I picked the wrong mechanic last year, so I could probably have avoided some unnecessary issues

lol.... anywho.... +1 on some parts being easier to change on a Subaru. Belt replacement for one. Spark plugs are no picnic from what I hear though . It IS nice to be able to change mine in about 5 minutes

Well i was told there was a long LONG list of problems...havent found any of them yet
The guy brought the car to the dealer for its entire life sence 02, even the rebuild. I guess thats the best way to do it, makes for one hell of a deal though.
SO the dealer told him it needed 5000$ worth of work
I drained to coolant and oil today to see if there was some sexy fluid swaping going on.
No coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant
Headgasket is good too! Its just the fuel filter making it smoke along with some kinda old 93
Thanks for the info on the compression testing what psi am i looking for on the 02 EJ20

oh and thats a big uhhhhhhhhhhhh nope on the civic deal
lol sorry
