true no maf is needed it uses map or speed density. i did not know that aem was able to control the dbw throttle and also tune the vvt on the avcs. I know that hydra does.

if you have an 04sti then they have a rom hack that will let it run on speed density

That's onl;y becaus the AEM for the STi just came out recently. Hydra was the only option for years.

^ he prefers AEM but he likes Hydra as well. AEM is the route I am leaning towards
