Having tuned lots of both I *STRONGLY* recommend the AEM. The only reason that so many people ran Hydras for so long is that they were the only ones that did Drive-By-Wire and AVCS. Now that the AEM is out it's WAY WAY better. I've done at least 25 Hydra cars, and Doug has probably done 35+ and not a SINGLE Hydra was usable the first time it was shipped. That's right 100% of the Hydras had to be shipped back to Hydra AT LEAST ONCE. Some have been back 3+ times.

Even once you get it working it's not as consistent as an AEM, and the enormous maps are just cumbersome to tune. There are MANY tuning features that Hydra does not have, like interpolation, and you can only adjust the timing by WHOLE degrees!

Anyway, I'd stronly suggest the AEM.

^ Thanks Scott. I'm curious to see how many switch over to AEM. It seems as if AEM still hasn't caught on in the Subie world . I was syked when AEm released the AEM for the STi's, it's been so long I thought they would never make it By the way......I have your tooth brush lol

having used several interfaces...and both being asked about

AEM...hydra often has too many problems and andrew will never admit that its his fault...though I'm on a hydra 2.6 for my current build because it was plug and play for my 96 and I'm sick of wiring.
