Default Safe Motorsports - Sebring May 10th

Its that time again.

Want to drive your car on Sebring International Raceway in a safe and non-competitive environment? This is your chance to go at your pace and just have fun testing all that money you have dumped into your ride.

17 turns and a 3.7 mile course gaurantee a great time.

May 10th is the first event. It would be nice to see some more Subaru's this year

SAFE Motorsports - More track for less money! Sebring - Homestead - Moroso

If only you didn't have to be over 21. Do they do these things regularly?

I still need tires, brake pads, SS lines and Accessport before I brake the Fozzy's cherry at Sebring. It's only money, right?!

whats the deal with 21+? I try to at least do all the different clubs so I can give my review on them. Every other club is 18, and some can do 16 with parent/guardian release form.

its cheaper for their insurance if its 21+

but now that I read it, id need to get a HPDE in before this event to even be allowed as a member. kind of stupid that you need experience in an HPDE event to get into an HPDE event. . .

I would guess the 21 thing is becase of this style of track and for the same reason that we all pay an increased insurance premium until we turn 25 years old. You can get in real trouble on this track if you forget yourself if even for a second.

By this I mean, Sebring is not a parking lot auto-x track where 80 mph is top speed . It would be easy to do 130 + mph on this track straight into a hair-pin baracade There are several high-speed turns on this track where it could be easy to over do it. Most of the 17 turns are 40-100 mph range though and can be negotiated with ease.

It is great fun Just need to go easy for the first few laps!

... you can get an open face helmet for around $80. Just make sure to get the kind they are asking for becasue they WILL check it.

The 2 times I have been, they have been very lax on the HPDE thing.

They asked for a show of hads at the beginning during the "meeting" of those that "have never driven on a closed course before." I found this question odd becasue of the HPDE requirement. It contradicted with their web site. About 10 people rasied their hands.

They then offered (not required) to put a driving instructor in the car with each of those people for the first few laps to get them comfortable. They then turned them loose for the day. I thought that was very cool of them.

This is a VERY LAID BACK environment guys & gals that is just about having fun on a real race track in a non-competative setting.
