Default Transmission

I dropped my car off mastro subaru yesterday to check on my transmission. They called me and asked me to authorize 6 hours of labor (which is $592) to pull apart the the transmission. They Guy on the phone told me that 99.9 % of the claims are denied due to the driver error. So here I am now asking for advice. I narrowed down my choices.

1) Call SOA and take the claim to a higher level
2) Take it to a performance shop to get it fixed (If you know any good ones please let me know, I was thinking CFT motorsports in Orlando)
3) Take a risk and authorize 6 hours of labor and wait for the answer.

Any ideas? I know I didn't abuse my car at all.

thanks

yeah he's a friend of mine ..he has an 05 sti , it gives this grinding sound on 4th gear on ,and sometimes you can hardly shift it to the 4th on particular RPM levels...i guess it's a syncro issue

6-speed takes some specialty tools to do...and a really big torque wrench!!!
honestly I would see it as a waste to dive in and find the problem and get shafted. I would buy a complete gear and syncro set and have them cryo'ed then just have those installed when the case is apart.
Unless the factory is going to cover it, its a lot of labor money to only replace a syncro
