Speed-o-meter and tach-o-meter???
only problem with turbo's on these engines is that you are limited to 5-6psi, due to weak internals(rods and bearings). oh and the 3500 dollar price tag(AVO turbo kit), not including labor and everything else you'll need
superchargers are fun, there is a guy on NASIOC (Reddevil) that ran a 2.2n/a with an eaton supercharger, small turbo, and nitrous on a stock engine.... blew 3 of them sky-high
But a small boost supercharger would give you a good amount of gains and still be reasonably priced (ebay!)
read up on NASIOC for the superchargers before you consider doing it... alot more involved than you'd imagine.

thanks for the insight..i'll do some reasearch on it...and about the brake launch never done it...also if yall want we can make it a subaru day at auto-x sometime so i can learn more.
What happened to racing for pinks?
lol
again, don't brake launch, you're going to need a new torque converter, which is upwards of 700 bucks for a stock replacement... if you want to shift like a manual and save your torque converter, save the money and get a shift kit, like the one on IPT Performance Transmissions Torque Converters and Transmission Parts for Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Import vehicles its about the same as a new torque converter, and will give you complete control over the transmission
or else just floor it and let the transmission shift as it will, because otherwise you're going to destroy your tranny shifting it from 1 to 2 to 3 to D...

Also, how about another view on the whole 2.5i situation? Instead of a WRX swap, why not take advantage of the higher compression and go with a supercharger kit, or low-boost turbo? Running 7-8psi will give you a nice power boost, you might not even have to run an intercooler, you will still have power and torque off boost as well, and would probably be cheaper than an entire engine swap to boot. I realize that having a big e-penis and running 50 billion PSI of boost seems to be important around here, but if you haven't figured out that I sorta go against the norm of these boards already, you should pay more attention.

you're still going to run into the same problems with the supercharger... you're only going to be able to push 4-6psi max with your engine, which would make you either as fast, or just slower than a stock wrx.
