Deadbolt recommends 100 to 200 mile breakin for new and rebuilt turbos, with conventional dino oil (ugh), as per their site and conversations with Jerry (owner).

If I drive to Orlando and back, that's about 210-250, depending on which way I go (408 vs 417). So I might be doing that on Sunday, and it'll be about 30 miles from where I'm installing the turbo (Lutz) to get back home. It'll go quick, and if I add some highway miles in there it'll go past 200. The hard part will be staying off the boost, but I'm going to load my economy map so I run with a fully open wastegate until the breakin is over. Then I'll probably beat the ever loving piss out of the car.

Yeah, the Sunrider's event was a blast as expected. All of the Suby's (and Saab) put down good times. I think next time I will ask Chad to ride along and critique my driving. I would like to be running a little faster than I did. More seat time will obviously help, but hearing advice from someone with more experience certainly can't hurt. I think next time we should shoot for a turnout of 6-7 STi's and some more WRX's (or 22B's) as well. It would be nice to have some EVO's show up too, so if anyone knows someone that drives one...convince them to come. Alizarin, can't wait to see (or hear) the car with the new turbo.

I've already got 1 person here at work who say they're going to go to the next one, and 2 "possibly".

It'll also be my last autox as a novice, since it'll be my 3rd.

Side note, I did get a complement from one of the people working the timing trailer (I think it was that Lauren guy?). I was talking to somebody about being a novice for one more race and he popped his head out of the trailer and said "You're a novice? You drive pretty good for a novice." I could only muster a "Well, I do alot of mountain driving" as a response. I'm such a loser

2 STI guys are chairing the next event on December 3rd. Make sure you get involved! Please take a look at the sunriders forums/site.

http://www.sunridersmotorsports.com/

It's a very informal event, and the club is bound to get busier/better...check out some of the autocross sites for next year on their website.

Once again, you did a great job. Next event, let somebody hop in the car with you and give them a mandate to help you improve to within 2 seconds of top Subie time. Loren is very good instructor from what I hear.

Default Last one for 2005!

Last Sunday was an absolute blast!

When will registration open up for the Dec. 3 AutoX at SPC? Their site doesn't have the link just yet that I could find?

Damn, where have I been. I check into Tamparacing but never the Subi forum. Its great to see the Subaru crowd getting interested in autocross. Paul is that you hiding out as urn_uuid_owned?

If your into autocross you will want to check into our Jan event, a mirrokhana at Primus. No timer just you and one other car on track. Someone wins, someone loses. Two losses and you go home for the day. We will have a lot more info on it soon at www.nasaxflorida.com. Note Sunriders is jumping under the NASA (National Auto Sport Assocation) and we will be known as NASA-X Tampa. Hope to see some more Subarus at the December 3rd event, I better get finished with that course map.

Oooohhhh, Primus is going to be awesome! For those of you don't know, the Bay area does have a very nice track facility called....Primus. They have hosted only a few driving events so far (a few go kart events, practice days, etc...) but things seem to be picking up. The track itself has been there in one form or another for a few years now. Permiting, contruction hassles, and noise complaints have been some of the obstacles that had to be overcome to get this facility running. The place is awesome and you should all come check it out. The "small" track is very tight, but well laid out. You won't need a lot of HP to put down fast times, just a car that handles well and a driver that knows what they are doing. There is a larger section of track that allows for more speed (100mph+), but I don't think the mirrokhana will be using that part. This facility has seen little use so far and the track surface is in excellent condition. Anyhow, here is a little Google Maps to give you a glimpse of the facility. I am not positive, but I am thinking that the mirrokana will only use the top half of the track, the tighter section. Enjoy. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=27.60...6870&t=k&hl=en

They should build a Pantera Bread across the street from that track.
