Wilma gona kill us all
As of this morning, when it set the record for lowest pressure on record in the Atlantic basin (Gilbert was 888mb), it was actually a pretty small storm. The eye was only 2.5 miles wide or so this morning. Now, as of the 8pm advisory, 10/19, it is down to 160 max sustained winds. As of 5pm the eye was restructuring, with the "real" eyewall at 5 miles wide, and breaks forming at 10 and 45 miles wide. These eyewall replacement cycles will cause the intensity to fluctuate, so it'll probably go down even more as the inner eyewall dissolves (which is actually quite cool to watch in the visible satellite pictures).
Hurricane force winds aren't that far out from center, only about 60 miles as of 8pm. Storm surge as of this point is only 7-10ft, which is quite low for a storm this powerful. Keep in mind that Katrina had a 25+ foot storm surge when it hit at an even lower wind intensity.
