Drive like a jackass and you'll eat your clutch up. I got 40k out of my stock clutch with no issues, and plenty of my customers are getting that or better on an 02 clutch.

I got 60k out of my stock clutch with 40k being stage IV. If I were to buy a used WRX (or any sports car) I would have the motor compression tested and maybe even a leakdown test for good measure.
