heatwrapped downpipe. STi not happy
lstepnio, has a point, I just wrapped just my headers for now, but after the turbo I wouldn't touch it. The weather made a big difference to me, spool time, driving, everything.
Also any mods you do, you almost have to have it retune to get the full potential out of it.

yeah i know about re-tuning after mods but i shouldnt have to for heatwrap.
your changing an aspect of your car. Ex. Brakes you woulnt have to obviously. But any performance thing I would. So that your ecu knows what to do and by how much. You were trying to make it spool quicker, just like when you do an ehaust or intake. It needs to be compensated for.
I say take off the heatwrap and put it on your headers and upipe.

FOR THE LOVE OR GOD, you ppl drive 4clys most of you. Our car's have a header. its 1 and 2 piece's sometimes but its none the less a HEADER. unless you have the top secret sti with a 4 bolt chevy v8 then your smuggling headers. <---- feels relieved...lol

Your exactly right for a moment, your changing the bounries of the tune. he was not trying to make the car spool faster its a given when you increase exhaust velocity. thats why you see the old school gen 1 street talons double wrapped from downpipe to muffler. but thoes are 9-10 sec street cars they must be wrong to wrap the exhaust why would anyone want to do such a stupid thing. your keeping the heat inside the pipe and getting a cooler temp b/c of the raised velocity of exhaust gases exiting.
If he put the wrap back on, and the heat shield, then had mastro retune the car again he would be revving with his cock out the window for a week giggleing like a school girl. getting rid of all the heat soak on the IC is like $$ in the bank. when you get this far in to modding you need to retune for the smallest changes. thats why you got ecutek right? its just a shame to see someone get pointed in the wrong direction by ppl who havent a clue.
