he sold it. i tried to get it again but he said sold. sorry.
griff are you the one with the red 2 and the yellow trd graphix?
just wondering. i heard that guys engine setup was similar to what yours is.
also i know you probably got what webcam camshafts in there but what cam gears do you have??? 5s-fes only have one external cam gear which is somewhat pointless to have because the exhaust cam is driven by a spider gear internally from the intake cam.
i was just wondering because i would have gotten the webcams had i not decided to sell my camry.

that sucks i really wanted that turbo kit....oh well i might just build my own anyways....
camaryDAN: naa i dont have yellow graphics on my car...i live up in Spring Hill so the only time im really down in tampa is when i go to school at ITT-Tech..mon. wed. fri. ..... as with the cam gears the shop who did my porting and polishing said they couldnt find actual cam gears (or GEAR i guess isnce its only one actual gear) so they advanced the timing on my stock one. My cams were sent to Crane Cams in Daytona Beach and they sent me back regrinds for longer lift and higher duration. However I dont think this shop really knew what they were doing because i got my car back and I notice ALOT of low-end loss but not much high-end power...it makes power all the way past red-line (but my re-limiter comes on at 6400) so most of my power cant even be used. It doesnt seem much faster though unless all the power is hiding in the exhaust and headers im yet to do. If you got any ideas on what could be wrong or if the 5sfe isreally just not good at taking modifications please let me know! Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

i know webcams makes cams for the 5s-fe but theyre very expensive. in the range of $600 (plus $200 core if u go through this mr2 website i found them on. but i think theyre regrinds also but these are probably better than the ones from crane.
however to properly achieve the gains from cams on any car really you need a good header/exhaust system. im running a bosal/brospeed 4-2-1 on the camry with stock cat and custom catback piping on an arospeed bomb muffler. with i/h/e you should notice the cams better. i mean if you notice a little gain with stock exhaust it will be a bigger gain with a better exhaust!
the cam gear they just turned then..ok i see what ur saying.
5s-fes have been known to be strong (mr2 with 5s-fe turbo putting out 420rwhp--full internals/built) but i prefer keeping it all motor. perhaps in your lighter mr2 it will prove to have impressive time gains at the track but because my car weighs in pretty hefty its not worth attempting to stay n/a on it.
good luck with the buildup have u been to the mr2pages.com and camryman.org forums yet? theyre informative and can give you basic help and more.

Sorry Griff the kit has been sold. I wish you coulda stepped up sooner shipping was a bitch and a half. If you want to build up a turbo 5SFE we should get together sometime. I am very knoledgable in the subject. BTW a group of us MR2s get together on Friday nights. You are welcome to come and join in. Drop me a line for directions and times if you want to come out.
CamryDAN: Find out if it is possible to mate the MR2 tranny on the Cam I got the engine and tranny out of my car up for grabs now it has an act street/HD clutch in it too.

camryDAN.....yea I wanted the shop to send my cams out to Web cams or MR2PP cams...but they said it woulda cost me more than twice as much as crane...and they used Crane with all of their build-ups... (even though ive ben told that Web and MR2PP cams are the same thing) ....but i have a question for you....do you think a bosal/brospeed 4-2-1 header for the camary would maybe work on my car ??? cause im sure they are much cheaper than the Hotshot headers that go for $475. The custom piping for the cat-back was waht i was thinking too..cause im sure a muffler shop can make one for pretty cheap around here...(I HOPE)...but on some MR2 websites ive seen and heard sound clips of people with Flowmaster Z-28 exhausts on the MR2....but i dunno about performance....
---MR2driver--- ..yea ive been debating for a while now about either turbo or NOS for my car cause with all the stuff i have done now im STILL loosing to GSRs with intake!! And I launch at 4100rpm...any less and i bogg. But anyways yea let me know where you guys meet up at and around what times...I live in Spring Hill so its a good 40 min. drive to tampa....thanks guys....im gonna check out a few of those camary websites camryDAN.....thanks again

mark:
right now would be a nice time to swap trannys since my car is at the shop getting a new rear main seal and some gasket below that and its behind the drive plate.
however i dont even wanna consider doing a 5speed swap. i am pretty sure the tranny would bolt up because its still in transverse design (mr2 pushing the rear wheels and camry pushing the front) so i dont see any problems with that. but i dunno about the linkage etc. since yours comes from behind and mine would have to have linkage back to my shifter. looking under my dash makes me sick because my remote start alarm (which i can actually keep if i dont use the remote starter unless in neutral) i did install myself and the wiring is like 50 spider webs all in one!

griff: mr2pp uses webcams when you buy em from there. theyre like the same picture too i think.
about the header. you have a 5s-fe it will bolt up. i dont know about clearance problems though. mine extends to my cat which would be almost out the rear end of your car but you could probably get a custom flange or something and custom exhaust. but the bosal is ceramic coated (CC) so you cant weld onto it from what i hear. mr2pps headers are those hotshot? the red one or whatever?
marc let me know what ur willing to just give me the engine and tranny for pricewise? i may just grab it now and can use either the engine parts (rebuild etc) and perhaps slap the tranny on later if i find out it works

I am only lookin to get $500 for the engine/tranny. I put an add up on http://www.xcars.com today. 93 5SFE Tranny w/ACT Clutch. The engine needs valve guide seals which are cheap parts but a bitch to put in. I got a quote:665b67a333 from the dealer for $600+ to replace these. The mechanic (thats where the engine is right now) that I took my car to will do the valve guide seals for less then that though so he could possibly replaced those while its there. With the valve guide seals replaced and a valve job done this will be one strong engine.
The ACT clutch kit was $320 and it cost me $300 to get it installed. So I am basically selling the whole thing for less than what the clutch is worth. Just let me know if you want it. Pickup would be from Cocoa Beach which is about 3hrs away.

let me talk to my dad about getting it. i already told him i wanted it and i just gotta see if hell let me spend the money on it. pickup isnt a deal i can make a day of it cuz i will soon be unemployed while packing for college the next 2 weeks. ill get back to you.
this is the engine and tranny right? its a deal and i know i can use it in some form. has there been any headwork or etc done to the engine or is it stock (except for replacing/maintenances)?

camryDAN....hey are the brosal headers and brospeed headers 2 different headers? or is it just 2 different names for the same company? if its differnet companies then do u know if the brospeed headers are ceramic coated? also...im not really clear about you saying the headers would extend passed the rear of my car....how long is your header ??? Because i have quit a bit of room between the header and the rear bumper.
About the MRPP headers...i think they custom make their headers...but those are over $600 last i checked...hotshot headers are $490....ive been trying to get a group purchase going on MR2.COM for hotshot headers...but its not really getting anywhere...i think they said the last time they did that they got the headers for around $300 a piece..which isnt too bad.
