-WTB-97 Eclipse GST/GSX
Your so childish, and already making the thread about you when its clearly about someone else that your giving bad advise to. Not that I know so much about you but I'm now learning alot. Stop with your cry out for attention before I get my Violen out and stay off this thread unless you have something useful to say.
Also saying that I ruined the scene
Let me guess and your bringing sexy back since you own Mitsubishi's first DSM [/sarcasm]

Grow up this kid came in here because he obviously wants an eclipse. i dunno if you are buttsore over a previous 4g63 experience or whatever, but get over the fact that a lot of OTHER people's DSMs break down and a lot of OTHER shops mess up people's DSMs, but thats not always the case.
I've had my current eclipse for a year and a half, and the only thing thats gone wrong with it was water pump, which actually never WENT, just started leaking out of the service hole. I then drove it like that for about 6 months before replacing it. Other than that, the worst thing was an intercooler hose blowing or something dumb.
Ive had 3 cars, my first car was a 90 talon NA. beat the piss out of that car with no problems. I was 16 years old, and doing 5k rpm burnouts everytime i was first at the light. Not one problem. The only problem i had was that I had no concept of timing marks, and one day when i changed the tensioner and put the timing belt back on, the car ran funny and the head was toast AFTER about 5-10k miles. user error.
my second car was a 91 eclipse gs turbo. The only problem I had was a bad ecu, which happens to a lot of 1g's anyways, but i owned it for about 3 years. I ragged the piss out of that car too, but had a little more experience with mechanics by then. The hardest thing i had to do was replace the radiator because the old one was rusted.
the point of all this is to say that DSM's can be good reliable cars. People do beat the crap out of them, and some have big issues like crankwalk, etc. But if he got a 2g a/t gst, changed the oil, plugs, wires, and air filter regularly, the car will last him a long time and be very fulfilling.

. I have probably been fucking with these cars back when you where swinging around in your daddy's balls and have probably forgotton more about them then you will ever learn. With that being said, this kid if going to spen his every last dime on a car that will be his first car and needs to be relaible. When someone spends their last little bit of money on something they don't have anything else for unexpected repairs. He is not you nor I and it does not matter if we had good or bad luck with them. These cars are mechanics cars period and not for someone that knows nothing about them and have no mechanical knowledge. This kid will be happy when he knows that he can take a girl out on a date without all his tools in the trunk and watching his gauges like he is driving a race car. He will be happy when he doesn't have to call into work more than once a month with car issues. I have gone to Lakeland 5 times in the last week and everytime and every trip there was a DSM on the side of the road. First two where 1g's and the last 3 where 2g's, so aside from all the TR trama BS let the kid get something he will enjoy and not regret.
Hey man, if you have your mind set on one of these carsand your not getting Fernando's,I suggest buying one as cheap as you can from someone older than 25yrs old. Save enough money on the side to have Brothers put you a fresh bottom end in it. Also replace anything that needs to be replaced. You need to save about $1-1500
after purchase of your choice of car, that would be the best way to go.
If you need any advice or help looking one over or picking one out, pm me and we can set something up.
Miguel

Forget about getting an eclipse, get an srt4 like all the other 16 y/o's, and call it a day.
ohhhh thats right srt4's blow up. Well get an RX-7 those are nice. Oh yeah, rotaries grenade. Volkswagens are good cars...until the warranty expires. Everybody and their grandma's grandma has a honda. How about a supra? Nice cars right there. But we gotta get a car where you are not spending every dime you have.
Point is, many cars you buy for 5k or lower are going to have problems, stock or not, even some cars OVER 10k will have issues. As regards to looking at gauges, when did that become a bad thing? I look at my gauges on my RELIABLE-ASS eclipse all the time, thats just monitoring. They wouldn't be there if you were not supposed to look at them. I didn't make much money at all when I had my talon and then when i had my eclipse, but I sure as hell didnt spend every last dime on the car. I had a savings account that was growing because I didnt need to spend all that money on it. More than 75% of the money spent on the car was upgrades. If yuo are saying that he will get sucked into a car he is never satisfied with as far as performance, driveability, etc., then you are correct. But the only valid point made was that you wanna be able to take your girl out without the car breaking down. Thats everybodies worst fear lol.
I'm not missing any point, you sir are missing the point by implying that DSM's are piece of shit cars that WILL break down. I've given you valid examples and I can go on all day about DSM's that havn't had any unusual problems. When you see 1g's on the side of the road on your merry way to lakeland, could that possibly have something to do with the car being up to 15 years old?
Because of your VASTLY superior dsm meKaNiK skills I don't mean any offense or disrespect at all, but I think you should consider that a nice 1g or 2g that he doesnt beat on will last and be a very nice car. For $5.5k, he could find something for $2500 or so, take the car to your precious Brotherz shop, have them check it out, and then spend a 1000 or so to do a tune up or fix any little problems. The point of this all is that any car ragged on will break down, any car driven carefully and maintained well will last longer. And I apologize for long threads.

I'm not sure where you read in anything I wrote that directly replies to DSM's being a pos. Everyone in the DSM world who knows me know I back them 100% over any other car, so no disrespect but your speaking out your ass. I am giving this guy much needed to know info on purshasing something hey may not be mechanically nor financialy ready for. These are old ass cars and if he finds one with a 6-bolt its been beat on, and if he finds one with a 7-bolt it will need a bottom end in it sometime soon PERIOD.
These are old cars that run at high temperatures due to being turbo charged, and there is only so long a car like that will hold together before needing a rebuild or re-ring/gasket kit. Everything I have said thus far has nothing but truth in it and for you do try to discredit any of it will only show your lack of knowledge in what your talking about.
So with that being said man, get a car that you can be sure about and save some $$$ to replace much to get it to where it needs to be. My last Gsx I had has had everything under the hood replaced and much other things done as well. That car my wife drove alot even with the kids and never feared not once being stuck on the side of the road. So if you get one it can be made reliable just have some cash on the side to get it there. Me, I have a new Ouutlander and will be picking up a new Camaro in 09. I love the feeling of watching nothing but the gas gauge. Its also great never having a worry or a dought taking anyone anywhere.

Wow this is entertaining, too bad it's at someone else's expense. Sorry you have to see this side of Tampa Racing as a new member, Chase - There are a lot of good people on here that don't deal in drama bullshit.

Don't let THEONE discourage you bro he just could never get a dsm to run right then he sold it to someone an it blew the motor the next day or so... they are fun cars an you will either hate them or love them if you ever need advice with buying a dsm hit me back with a pm... i drove his car before he sold it an knew something was not good.... so i wish you the best in finding a DSM....
