northstar crankshaft...
I know I will not get the response im after, but its worth a shot. I am looking for a northstar crank. Preferably a bad one. I have an idea, and think it may help my 3rdgen, and LT1 buddies tremendously. Anyway, let me know....

If you want to "de stroke" a sbc, just use the 4.3L L99 crankshaft, at least then you can use off the standard pistons by switching to the L99's 5.94" rods.
If you really want to find out the hard way that it wont fit in the block, there are plenty of northstars at the bay area LKQ's.

full on track cars can take a lot more liberties with shit than a street car. bell bottom kits and crazy wheel fitment look cool sliding on a track, but when i want to drive to taco bus, im going to ruin all of that shit. so it just doesnt work for me. function over fashion.

Other than putting it into another engine, honestly now, what could you realistically be looking to do with one ?

do you have a northstar crankshaft? if not, then just give it up man. You have no idea what my plans are with the crank.

im not sure it you are looking for a free one or not but LKQ is the final resting place for tons of northstar motors. so i gotta ask.... what in the world do you have in store for this crank?
goood luck pulling one if the motor is sitll in the car

well I have a bastard car.....93z. So I have quite possibly the worst combination for a ECM. LT1 based with a eprom. I want to do away with that setup and the answer, I believe, is the northstar setup. Coil packs, crank trigger, etc. Here is the rub, the northstar crank trigger is located in the center of the crank. Its tough to see what I need to fabricate without physically having one in my hands, which means "I need a N* crankshaft". Using a older 4x computer, repin the harness, and a 59 hack, should result in a lt1, with infinite tuning possibilities, 3bar map, no opti spark, coil packs, and wide band data logging. Why use aftermarket computers when the general has everything I need. A little research and trial and error will go a lot further than buying a $2500 DFI. So, for all the questions and unwanted opinions about why "that crank wont fit into any other block", you have your explanation.
