P-86 Mustang
Thanks Rob, I love those cars.
So I've been browsing local ads for a 460 for some time now. I found a guy named Brian that listed one on Craigslist with a engine stand and c6 trans for $100.00. I thought he must have left a zero off the price because everything else I've seen has been at least $400 for the engine alone.
So I email and call him to find out the deal. Turns out he bought the engine and trans about ten years ago when he was going to swap it into a 93 Mustang. He then found a deal on a 67 Fairlane and put all his time into that (nice car BTW).
He says the combo has been sitting in his garage since then and he wants to free up some space. He said he knows the economy is in the dumps and he wants to sell it to someone who can really use it instead of it sitting in the garage. I confirm its $100.00.
Sounds too good to be true but I figure its worth taking a look at. Jeff and Ed from The Stang Gang offer their truck to go pick it up tonight. Wade from TSG rolls out the engine hoist for me to use and off we go. One hundred dollars later, some gas money for Ed and I have my 460 in the garage.
Once again a huge thanks to Jeff and Ed for helping me out!!
Check out the pics, its super clean:

Hey Eric,, that block has a 1971 cast number "D1VE" the v is for lincoln and the e denotes engine assy. there should be a oval cast mark on the block that will indicate the actual build date the heads are 73 lincoln and the C6 has what apprears to be the long tail shaft with a V'ed crossmember mount which is not the one normally used in mustangs..However it can be modified or changed not to worry I learned to read cast marks a long time ago as they can tell you alot of stuff day, month, year of assy and the time of day they were cast.different vehicles had letters assigned to them from ford for body styles.Z is for mustang T is for truck and there are a bunch more..Try and find the oval cast number on the block and heads and shoot a pic ...
