My 85 Coupe Project.....
A little update..... I have been having an issue with the carb I put together, it has an initial stumble I can not get rid of...... It appears to be because the annular boosters in the new Proform body are much to agressive for the stock motor that is in the car..... With the carb hat off and I try to rev the throttle it stumbles even with the secondaries disconnected, when it gets to about 1/4 throttle the boosters look like 2 little buckets just dumping fuel and the motor boggs(I even tried this with a power valve plug and it was no better)..... I think they would work OK with a bigger motor.....
Then someone I know loaned me a BG Demon 750 blow Thru carb he had laying around, and it has redicolus throttle respnose now..... The only problem with it is it's extremely lean at full throttle(it has 72 and 80 jets in it right now and I have no idea what size the pvcr's are, but I will the beginning of the week)..... So I am going to tweak this thing a little and see how it works out..... I don't really like the Demon carbs too much but if it works, it works..... I am thinking about just calling CSU and ordering a custom built one for my application, we will see what happens first.....
I also got the new hood, so I gotta get it on the car and lined up too..... Needless to say it's almost ready to go out and play.....

Soon.....
The new hood is on and lined up, also finished up a few other little things..... I cleaned the car up this morning, and it really needed it after 7 months of sittting around the shop collecting dirt..... Then I drove the car around for a couple hours today just to make sure everything is working properly, and to make sure there was no overheating problem(no problems there, only ran between 160 and 170 in traffic in the 90+ heat between 2:30 and 4 in the afternoon).....
The only thing leaft too do is tune it, I will have my new carb next Wed, then I can get started tweaking on it.....
A few pic's from today after I scrubbed it down.....

Just think Frank if you put some 10 holes and this was back in the 90's, man this car would have made some $$$$$$$ with all us chevy boys back then.

Hows the tweaking coming along Frank? Is she all tuned by now?
I got that same muffler on mine now and she shut the hell up after that went on, so now ill be driving her all over the joint

It's being a real pain in the ass..... I am having problems getting it to idle properly, or atleast how I expect it too..... I have been messing with 3 different carbs and I am not happy with it yet, I think part of the problem is the motor is so small/mild I have to basically close the throttle blades to get it to idle down..... Which is completely closing off the idle transfer slots causing the problem..... I can't find any vaccum leaks, although I am going to try it without the 1/2" spacer to see if that is possibly leaking, but I don't believe it is.....
I am almost ready to put fool injection on it.....

Damn man, does your throttle blades have holes in them? We welded mine up and was able to get the idle where needed and room for adjustment. I'm sure you'll get it man. Be patient and you'll get it.. I also had to mess with the IFRs. I know you like to figure that out yourself but you know who you could talk to if you feel you hit the end of the road with the carb.
Good luck man.
Good luck man.
