go turbo or ls/vtec
how about.. ls vtec turbo. that would be fun
as carol shelby said "Son, if you got lag, you aint driving it right" there is no such thing as lag unless you have a turbo 3 times too big for your engine, I can launch fully in boost and stay there until redline....what spool time? choose your turbo size realistically, if you dont plan on producing 400hp, dont get a turbo capable of it, thats where you run into lag problems
how much power are you planning on making? I use a 20g for my 2.4....but it has a lot more displacement than your engine, on my engine its fully spooled 3700 RPM, yours it would more likely be around 42-4500 the 20g is a pretty big turbo though...capable of 400hp, if you havent built your engine and your not running that much boost, just a regular t3 .42/.48 should be suffiecient(and dont buy those crappy ebay turbos, a lot of them are made in china with sub-par parts, I reccomend a junkyard turbo before that, after all chrysler k-cars are a dime a dozen and most have this turbo...or a similar sized one) a regular t3 should be good for roughly up to 250hp, on a Honda 1.8L that should be around 200ft lb of torque
i have a friend that is sellin a t4 with man. for like 300 but im tryin to talk him down cuz im in school full time and work part time and would need dirctions on how to install the turbo. would that be to much for a stock motor other than the improvments listed above??????
seriosuly, if you even thinking about installing a turbo, read the book "maximum boost" by corky bell first....and if your not mechanically inclined, doing it yourself is not for you, I had to fabricate a ton of little pieces on the fly for my install, to answer your question, yes, a t4 is huge for yor engine(or any honda engine really unless you have a lot done to it) thats a perfect example of an incorrectly sized turbo, 300 is a good price...but see how much he wants for the manifold...go to thejunkyard an buy a t3 in decent shape for $50 ....wait, never mind, read maximum boost before you do ANYTHING, turbocharging is not easy and there are a lot of areas that you need to address first, IE fuel....not to mention a full turbo system is going to cost in the range of $1500 on the cheap side if you do it yourself(and assuming you dont get a junyard turbo, you could probably get away under $1000 with a junkyard turbo setup if you know what your doing, my install cost me close to $2000 with all the pieces figured in)
