The coats thing was just saying basecoat only, that wouldnt shine up, but then the first time a drop of anything hit it, i'd have a shitty spot, im just gonna use the matte / flat clear, if it gets shined up spots so be it.

Business Gray
Battleship Gray
and they used an Audi Gray too.

My vote is for the Gloss. As much as I like the satin/matte, the gloss just cleans up so much better, but it really depends what your intentions are and how much you care about little things. If you're redoing the whole car, why not include the bay. I like uniformity on that stuff.

I wouldnt do matte unless its a show car. And you've said that it isnt multiple times. Its not worth the aggervation to try and keep it matte. Gloss is way more durable and you'll never have to worry about it especially if you plan on driving this car alot.

Just keep it simple.

Gah ! you are killin me, I always think "ohh here comes another build with a bunch of chromed junk parts, fake braided hoses, and a stupid wire tuck" when I see a fresh gloss painted engine bay

As far as simple goes, its just as simple either way, i've got the ppg matte clear, so its not like i'd be spending extra money to do it that way.

Either way I need to get my hands on some PPG D8291 hardener, if for nothing else the 2k global sealer I've already got, so I can just use it, you wouldnt happen to know anyone with some would you dan ? I need a half pint if im just going to use the sealer.

Oh well I guess if I do the shiny its at least cheaper, I just wanted a "I am not here, you dont notice this car sticking out in any way" engine bay
i think the whole part about there being a v8 in it already kills that idea.

All in the install man, anything can look factory done in there, its a matter of not putting parts that have half the colors of the rainbow under the hood, having a wiring harness that fits perfectly, and not having a bunch of extra crap halfassed under the hood.

The goal isnt to get someone who knows what they are looking at to not know, but someone who isnt familiar with the car to not notice quickly that it didnt belong there.
