Brake Woes...
SO, getting tired of this shit...
i rarely post help threads, i usually try to get shit done myself to avoid asking for help, which in turn, leads to high end questions for the likes of Dan, Epstein, etc etc, but this i think is fairly simple...
so here goes....
as some of you know, i just installed some Nismo rotors and Hawk HPS pads on the front of the skyline (waiting on Brembo rotors for the rear, already have the pads for em tho)... and I'm having problems...
during normal daily driving, they're fine and dandy... then as soon as i encounter some, let's say, spirited driving which requires hard braking, they start to squeal like a stuck pig....
and not like some little screech, but i'm talking like you hear be 'fore you see me kinda shit.... like all the way down to .5 km/h shit, annoying as fuck at lights/stop signs...
then after some normal driving (like 50km's+), it goes away...
hard braking again, they get all loud again...
love the stopping power, but damn that racket!!!!!
so what gives? i properly seated the pads, i know how to install brakes, so it's not some noob boner move...
i was told heat cycling might help, then i asked my g/f's uncle about it, he said he had a similar set up on his Hemi Ram (brembo xdrilled rotors, Hawk HPS pads), that he drives the piss out of (pretty cool for an older gent), and he said that he heat cycled his brakes, but the noise kept coming back... he said he eventually got tired of the racket and swapped out pads for some upgraded stock pads...
i haven't heat cycled mine yet, but will probably try today, but if this is going to be a reoccurring issue, i'll prob just rock some EBC Green Stuffs or some shit...
just kinda worried that once i get my rear Brembo's, and put these pads on that i've been sitting on for 10 months, that those might start squealing as well, creating a much embarrassing car when coming to a stop...
thanks!

I would start by checking to make sure everything is tight and lubed where lube is needed. Another thing you can do is an anti-squeal compound. I always called it Brake Quiet, the bottle I have is from NAPA years ago and is orange. With this said I hate to say that every time I put on high performance brake pads they squeal, doesn't seem to matter what brand, Hawk, EBC, even the carbon ceramic ones.
Did you install shims or just the HPS pads? I have had those pads before and they are supposed to not require shims (they have that metal backing) but they squealed like crazy on me too so I installed the metal shims from another set and it was gone. The anti-squeal grease also helps.
I know you have the pads already but have you tried wagners from advance auto? I have them and they work pretty good (no noise almost no dust).I have done couple of 150mph +++ pulls on the highway and they work awsome

the pads came with Hawk grease, but i haven't used it...
i guess i'll pull the front wheels off, grease the shit out of the backing plate, sliding rods, built in pad shim, and look into some of the brake quiet stuff...
shits annoying, i love the stopping power, it's bad ass, but the noise is REALLY embarrassing in daily traffic.... nothing better to announce the presence of a GTR than a screeeeeeeEEEEEEEeeeeeeeEEEEEeeeeeee...
hope it's not like the racket of a 2 way LSD, with the whole "gotta pay to play" noises...

I was told that the Hawk pads are really great, except that they make a crap ton of noise until they are broken in and then they have to be beaten on regularly to keep from making the noise again. "they" say that slotted rotors work the best with these because it keeps the top surface from getting "too smooth" which is apparently what causes them to scream. The light braking of daily driving causes this to happen rather quickly and often.
i have hawk hp+ on my fc front and rear, no matter how you lube them or what kind of backing plate is on them they squeal like a stuck pig. Like ^ he said thats the downfall to them, awesome breaking perf, but terribly noisy and dusty.
