fuck pros and cons, heres the scoop, you will go through tires like crazy, ivan who has the s14 thats ka-t running what 9's? was rocking a welded diff. it depends on who welds it, how strong the welds are, etc. the price you pay is the quality you get. dont half ass it or youll just destroy a diff.

oh and welded diffs are gay. i have one. yippy

rocked one in my fc for 2 years because I was young an broke, as long as you keep decent tires on the back you will be fine. But let that tread get low, add rain and its a bad day for you and your car.

get a j30 and use it, or a 180sx/hicas s13 diff.

vlsds are garbage. dont jump on the j30 wagon, they hardly ever lock, and when they do its at the wrong time. the only vlsd i didnt hate was my 180sx, but i still didnt like it. i would say 1.5 way for a daily/sometime track, or a 2 way/ welded for a dedicated track car. 2 way offers more control and reliability than welded, but welded gets the job done. its pretty much about the amount of money you got to invest on a diff. just dont buy a vlsd. open>Vlsd lol

Say goodbye to you're drivability, I drove a car recently with one horrible experience I thaught my car with the solid lifter, driveshaft, and tranny/clutch noises was bad but this thing took me by quite a bit turning blows aswell, and this is coming from a 240 owner who enjoys daily driving on a stage 5 unsprung clutch and wierd sitting z32 trans..

omfg z28ricer you know what i mean by locking up, as in drifting, not going in a strait line. if you want strait line action, j30 is the way to go. thats the only thing mine was good for.

i have a welded diff and i fucking hate it. driving in the rain fucking blows, it shreds through fucking tires, it destroys my front tires, and its honestly only is good for drifting. thats it. it sucks daily driving it too because its soo shitty. theres my .02 cents

ill trade you my welded for your open if you dont care about any of that above.

Rob, vlsd's are fine for drifting if you know how to initiate. If you just try to clutch kick every corner, its not gonna work out. But if you use other methods, it will lock every time.

spend $ on quality parts and enjoy your car, or cheap out and end up spending that $$$ anyway on new tires/broken parts/redoing the diff when it breaks down etcetc....

do it right, do it once....or cheap out and pay the concequences
