Default how easy is the 2jzgte to work with? compared to a KA24DET

I came into a fairly decent sum of money and am going to do a swap, can some one tell the cons of a 2jzgte, I have worked with mainly KA's and I hate timming the car, its a pain in the ass. I was wondering if the 2jzgte was any esier since its belt driven and I find belt driven engines are esier to time. Their are a few other waek points with ka's but I wont get into it. Just want to see the cons of a 2jzgte from parts to timming(if any cons) to issues with boosting or tuning ect. I love that the crank, rods and pistons are all forged, which is why I want to do the swap. Turboing a ka is like pulling a pin on a handgrenade. and I fucking HATE sr's. oanly other intrest would be a VQ.

can you explain the cons of a rb26det I want to know the negatives. especialy how easie or hard timming is. that MIGHT be a 3rd option.

You should be taking your sum of money to a shop. Period. If you can't time a KA properly, then I don't think swaps without explicit documentation are going to end well.

Not sure on tuning. I think you're looking at a standalone to start with. And not a cheap one either. Actually, the AEM2 is being designed around the 2JZ because of the original AEM's shortcomings. So you're looking at Haltech E11v2 / Plat, or better. Sequential fuel and spart on a 6-cyl isn't cheap.

For power, that's well documented.

OK now I'm intriged. What's the story from your past about timing? It's gotta be a whopper considering it's driving your engine choice.

i agree with epstien 100% if you cant time a ka then you sure as hell dont need to try swapping a 2jz into a s chassie.

and if want to put any money on a swap the RB25 swap is some what easy if you buy the kit for it. just doing the wiring is shitty.
i have a friend with one in a coupe it's NICE

I can time a KA, I have done it many times. And doing a swap is not so difficult with a kit. Timming a ka and wiring blows. It has a idler sprocket, 3 fucking timing chains and is a PITA to time and is easy to get off a tooth. and ka's ALWAYs have problems. 90% of post are ka issues. just because you guys are very experienced with engines dosent mean that lots of other people dont have the esiest time with timming a ka. Lots of people I talk to do not like timming them experienced and non. I will never take my car to a shop other than tuning. I like trying to solve my own issues so I learn. I honestly have done the ka thing for a WHILE, its been fun but I dont feel that is "my" engine if you know what Im saying. I really want to get info on the cons before "bandwagon" this shit. I liek the 2jzgte because all the internals are forged on the bottom end, not because its a "cool" swap,a nd was built for boost. tell me negatives about it.
