UTI good school?
Yea Marty was just a doofus.
Building C sucks the big one!!!!!! I'm gonna say we get maybe like 4 hours in lab a week (if that). They watch the cameras like a hawk in building C. If they see you walking down the hall with your shirt not tucked in you get written up. They are so strict.

i went to uti in orlando about three years ago whene there was one building and the first group of students hadnt even graduated yet. the rules are pretty gay but as far as not hooking anything up back then they barely had the stuff let alone having it already hooked up. i grew up working in a machine shop with my uncle so i had a pretty good background and i already knew everything they were "teaching" me except for a few phases. If youve never worked on or touched or even seen a car in your life its not bad if you pay attention and put forth the effort. imo it all depends on what teacher you have. I had some that taught me a lot but i had one who all he did was talk about how he held the fire extingusher for a race teams pit crew. all in all its not worth the big price tag especially to work in the overly political backstabbing world of the dealership. the best thing you can do is find someone who really knows what there doing pull up a chair and watch, help, and learn. and
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA^^^ freakin mr. G!!!! don't forget about the backflips on graduation day!

anyways...
This is the kind of attitude I'm talking about. You don't know what your talking about now and you didn't know anything before you went either. Talk to any REAL builder/driver/mechanic/etc and I'm sure they could tell you more than three days worth of facts about your "antifreeze and oil". Its all relevant information. Ignorance is a waste of time.
BTW, my driving record sucks and I got into mfg. paid/taught training AND I am insured by a dealership.

Ditto went to wyotech and it sucks all they do is tell you what you want to hear and then fuck you over in the end and your 40k+ in debt after intrest. do yourself a favor buy some books, talk to people who build race cars like dirt track cars and professional tuners and save a shit load of money. everything i learned from that school came from books. uti sucks even more. they train you to work in a dealership not to build race cars, why the fuck would you wanna spend 3 days learning about antifreeze and oil, wate of time.
oh and if your driving record sucks dont even bother, no dealership is going to insure someone thats a liability and most dealerships require no more then 3 tickets in that past 5 years.

You have been sucked in to what they tell you. I said the same things when I had only been there for a few phases. You will see the true light in about 4-5 phases I guarantee you. Everyone does.
Pretty much when they decided the rules what they did was went to the closest elementry school, copied their rules, then threw some other BS stuff in to make them even more rediculous.
My whole point about everything is it is not hands on what so ever. You will come out of the school with the knowledge yet still have no idea what you are doing because you wont know how to put it into use. They trick you into thinking you are learning. Like basic engines and auto trans, those are 2 of the most hands on classes and going through them you think you are learning how to "rebuild them" as theysay. You arent learning how to rebuild them at all, you are learning how to take them apart and put them back together... any dumb ass can do that. You arent replacing any parts, you arent making them any better than they origionally were. Sorry but I dont need to take a 3 week class on taking something apart and putting it back together again.. I was doing that when I was 4. I'm in fuel and ignitions 2 right now and a good example is they teach you how to use noid lights. The noid lights are glued on to the harness and you turn on the car and they flash, great i just learned how to see pretty lights flash when i turn a key! Now how the fuck do I actually hook this shit up if I have to do it myself? I'll never know. They teach youhow to use a breakout box on fords. Guess what! The breakout box is hardwired into the car they use! So um yea I just learned nothing there! I dont know how the hell to hook it up and yet again, never will (at uti anyways). All these things all you do is see them work, ok great, any idiot can do that, but if you dont know how to hook everything up you'll never get to that point. You havent been through any hard rediculous, absolutely stupid classes yet Ryan. I've been there since January, trust me, it only gets worse. Pretty much everyone i know wants to quit they just arent because if you quit you have to start paying off your loans as soon as you quit. Luckily for me I have no loans because I am thinking about quiting this phase.

Atany rate UTI sucks, I really would not go. If I had to do it all over again there is NO WAY IN HELL I'd do it again. They kept promising me itd get better, and it hasn't. One thing to know about UTI is IT IS NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT PERFORMANCE. I know the adds show all performance oriented. Well thats a lie. All they do is down talk performance and say performance is a waste blah blah blah. Dont believe anything the recruiters say because they lie out their fucking ass.
Mike you are a retard. how can you sit there and say uti dosent teach performance when you havent had a performance class yet? what do you think you learn in 102, 129, and 103? your telling me ripping apart a 350 evrey day and running it on the dyno to see what aftermarket parts do is not learning performance? a 250 direct port nitrous system isnt enough for you? what about super street, ecm tuning turbos, super chargers, and nitrous is'nt performance? the reson all the first classes are not hands on all the time is so people who dont know what there doing dont f*** sh!t up. the school is set up to filter out all the retards who are not going to make it in the real world. If you can't deal with the simple dress code rules at the school how are you going to make it in a dealership?
yeah some of the electrical classes were boring, but i cant belive youre saying you did'nt learn anything in 136.

i think its way over priced, i go to ptec which is really nice. its close very cheap and you learn a lot. the whole class is 1.5 years and it costs about 5000 without tools and you fork about 1500 in tools if you go with craftsman like i did haha, but its really fun there you learn a lot. and the teachers are awesome

And i would love to know your driving record and what dealership you work for. I have 4 moving violations and cant get a job at a dealership anywhere. All i hear is "Wow impressive resume we defenitly have a spot for you but we just need a copy of your driving record and a drug test" then i hand them my record and they say "where sorry we cant hire you". I have a spotless crime record, clean piss, wyotech grad, previous dealership exp, XAT racing exp, proficcent in MIG/TIG aluminum/stainless, dynojet use, roll cage design, AEM,DSMLink,F.A.S.T, and respectable refrences.
Im not saying i didint learn anything there, cause i'd be lying, but for the money i spent i could have sat down with some professional tuners/engine builders/welders/dirt track racers and have learned just as much. Or even sit down, open a fucking book, and READ.

If you think UTI is perforance oriented then you are the retard.
Not to mention the school is annoying as shit because everyone, like you, thinks they know it all. Um yea you dont. Just like what previous people said.. people hate uti kids because they come out of uti thinking they know everything, yet dont actually know what they are doing. Instead we build motors, wiring harnesses, cars etc. on a daily basis. Working on things myself I learn more and ge more hand on than I ever did at UTI.
