Default 240 overheating issue

Ok, Im sure some of you are familiar with my car, bought it from Mexicant, 90 240 w/a 93 twin cam swap. Im guessing I drive it more than he did, so he never ran into this issue. Anyway, the overflow was located too far below the top of the radiator, so we relocated it. I havent actually overheated since then, but did get pretty hot while sitting in traffic one day. My question is....having the twin cam swap, does this require a bigger radiator than what came in the car with the single cam? Just throwing some ideas around before I spend $$ on a better radiator only to find it doesn't resolve the issue.

yeah, whats the fan setup, and not running a stock overflow, or one in the stock location is totally stupid. (unless your car didnt come with one)

but if the fans are good, change thermostat, replace coolant with new, and distilled water.
bleed the air out, jack front end up high, turn heater on, use spill free funnell, or something to get the water levvel higher than the motor.
air bubbles like to hang out in the heater core.

Buy an electric fan that can actually pull some decent CFMs after checking what ^^^ said.

The camo car I have never goes above about 2 notches with an electric fan while the coupe runs about mid-gauge with a stock fan and an automatic (adding heat to the radiator with hot trans fluid).

the once and twice cam take the same rad.

tho think about this. what are the causes of a car running hot.

thermostat gone bad. "thermostat doesnt open R and R"

rad cap gone bad. "too much pressure. R and R"

vapor lock in the cooling system. "open cap start car turn heat on full blast and see if the coolant drops add if needed. *note the rad sits a lil lower than the motor so sometimes you may have to have the car at a slight incline*"

fan clutch going out. "R and R clutch fan or use altima fans, some fabbing needed"

or lastly water pump. "another simple R and R"

coolant container level shouldnt affect it that much. for mine is mount on the fender well. towards the top of the strut tower. and yes i am using a red strip beer bottle w/ t bolts to hold it down.

Hooraaaaaay beer.....ok sorry

Anyway...car has no heat, all that was taken out before I bought it. There's a smaller aftermarket fan which was set up with a temp switch to kick on at 170 by the previous owner. We're going to hook it up to a manual switch this weekend anyway. Going to get a new thermostat as well. Ummmm the car has to be warmed up to run better because a bunch of emissions gimmicks were taken out. I thought having to warm my Crx up before driving it was bad, now I own 2 of them!!! Tonight I let the car sit long enough to clean my windshield at the gas station and it was 2 notches below HOT, I started driving and it was fine every since. Off topic of temp, but I'm noticing 1st gear in this car is awesome, then in every other gear til about 4k, it's almost missing out a bit, just doesn't have 100% power. Sadly, my Crx does the same thing

in your case, I would bet the thermostat is going bad...
My car does the same thing, but it is because the clutch fan is going bad...

I know you might not wanna get a new one but it might be your best bet. Mine used to over heat every day. No matter how short the trip, I would have to pull over and let her cool. Turns out my radiator wasn't holding the water and I had to get a new one. It solved my problem and I haven't overheated once. Good luck with it.
