There's a smaller single fan on the radiator, but I figure once I get a new rad, I'll look into dual fans if needed. We're going to start with the thermostat this weekend, and go from there. I've started too big way too many times in the past, so I'm trying to start small when problems arise and work my way up so I don't waste anymore time or money I don't have

If you want to start small why don't you buy that stock fan and shroud for $30?? Honestly the POS that's on their now is probably the problem. You say it starts to overheat when it's sitting still in traffic or at the gas station? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it sounds like not enough air being pulled through the rad. You start driving and it doesn't overheat right??

Even if it's not the fan at least when you do figure out the problem you'll have good cooling...

Thermostat would be my next guess after fan. Good luck.

I had a problem like this, check your water pump, that was my problem, it only did it sometimes. Look on the bottom of your water pump for a wet spot(weep hole). Does it leak water sometimes?

and also, you just beat me on the thermostat post, and the only other helpful advice was yours anyway.

a big tool box...

so, since I only have half of a big tool box, does that mean I'm only half as smart?

I feel bad for everyone that has a portable tool box. must be hard for them to just stop and get gas...

good previous owner.

It isn't often that you come across one that is willing to help once the car is sold....

Indeed

I ended up ordering a dual core radiator today, changing out the thermostat this weekend just to be safe. Have to change out a rear caliper as well since it's leaking so bad. Funny thing is...my Bronco popped a hose today and lost all it's water, and while I was sitting trying to get THAT figured out, my Crx got too hot as well. So all 3 of my cars have had overheating issues in the past week!!!
