Too much assembly lube can be a bad thing.

I prefer bare clean hands over a cloth. lint is bad.

Any reccomendations on bearings for an SR with eagle rods and wiseco pistons that will be beat to hell and back? Dont have the time to send the block and rods out for maching to accept the ACL bearings.

While I haven't built any Nissan motors, I have built my fair share of other brands.

Things I've learned:
1. Take your time.
2. Plastigauge
3. Ring gap, ring gap, ring gap

I think it's funny you mentioned ring gap. I've seen variances of over .006" for the top and second rings in the exact same bore engine, and it didn't make any notable difference.

no one's mention have your stock pistons or aftermarket pistons coated. my second motor in my garage(haven't decided whether to put in the nx or the g20) i will definitely put all new nuts and bolts, and all new hoses and clamps the first time! i had to do certain things over the first time i rebuilt my engine, all is good now thou.

.006 isn't too bad, I just prefer everything to be spot on. I am very anal-retentive and will hand file all of my ring gaps until I am satisfied. In theory, proper ring gap is more crucial on boosted applications than on a big lazy 6,000 rpm v8.
